eh. Same level player, but Grimes does have better playmaking chops (tho still below average). For a team that now has 1 above average perimeter playmaker (Kyrie), trading anyone who can dribble the ball at any level for someone who cant does seem weird tho. But there's no real difference in the level of player and i think most teams would take the extra size with Caleb

Quentin Grimes is a 24 year old 3+D guard, who gets better every year.

Grimes doesnt really get better every year tho. His best year was 2 years ago on the Knicks. This is a journeyman guard for a journeyman forward. I dont hate it for either side but Mavs throwing in extra value here with an early 2nd is questionable

Basically going with a huge lineup (if PJ starts at SF and AD PF) with weak spacing, great defense and rebounding in the pace and space era. Going away from everything that teams are looking to do in the modern league and carrying one above average perimeter playmaker.

Makes no sense. Similar players, but Grimes makes his defender shoot 6% worse while Martin makes him shoot 2% better.
My guess is that Grimes will ask for a higher price and Mavericks will lose him in the free agency.

In a vacuum I'd prefer Grimes+SRP but this Mavs team is now on the AD/Kyrie timeline which means they have maybe a 2 year window to win a championship. Martin would likely be the better playoff performer the next 2 seasons. They already acquired Max Christie to take the Grimes role.
