see this is what the **** i'm talking about. when battle was with the big club, he was shooting 40% from 3. Now he's in the g league where the competition is lesser, he's killing it shooting 59%. This is why the gradey dick situation concerns me. This guy went to the gleague and shot 27%... he got worse. I'm really hoping he pans out as a shooter, but this is exactly what nba players should be doing in the gleague is dominating.

There’s lots of articles that speak about how players perform worse in the g league and its not correlated in the NBA.

Battle is almost purely a set shooter and that's an easier shot. So, like Gradey and Battle are almost identical in percentage with C&S shots, but for spot ups Battle is 89th percentile and Gradey is 83rd. And in terms of volume Gradey is easily one of the best spot up shooters in the league.

I have never looked at the stats, but that is surprising. Definitely doesn't match the eye test.

I can't figure out how he misses so many wide open catch and shoot 3's. I have more faith in RJ's C&S wide open 3 point shot.

I am hoping they can trade some guys, convert Battle to a full contract. Bring Battle up & send Walter down.

It will probably make the 905 team worse, but will be good for Walters development.

On Gradey Dick on the 905. I watched a couple of his games and that 905 team was nothing like what they are playing this season. There was no ball movement, no system, just a couple of guys like Freeman-Liberty hunting shots, Gradey would occasionally get a shot in less than ideal situations. This year's regular crew on that team, like Omoruyi, Rhoden and Lawson, are playing within the system. Then having multiple NBA guys in and out of the lineup also helps maintain the system play. It's a virtuous circle that is helping everyone develop.

So for reference I'll use everyone with more than 3.5 spot up attempts, which is top 80 in volume. Gradey is 4.2 attempts, and his 83.7th percentile is only behind Trey Murphy, Derrick White, Norm Powell, Grayson Allen, Malik Beasley, NAW, Harrison Barnes, MPJ, Reaves and Boucher. So 11th out of 80 highest volume spot up attempts. C&S is not the same as spot up, though. But again, 38.2% on C&S on his volume is in the range of very good results. Someone said he misses wide open threes and then when he misses them, which is going to happen more than half the time for even the best shooters, the eye test is biased to the misses and confirms the false opinion.

I understand the difference. That's why I made them.seperate points. I really haven't been paying as much attention to spot up.

When Battle or even Ochai shoots a wide open 3, I automatically think it's probably going in.....and it usually does.

There have been far too many games where GD misses 3 or more C&S threes with a defender 10 feet away. You read the game thread & there are often comments about it. I am not the only one noticing it.

He is shooting sub 35% overall from 3 on the season, which is terrible for someone that is considered to be an elite shooter.

Because when Ochai misses, few mention it.

When Gradey misses it, Boogie and a few others mentions it EVERY time....then go on a tirade about it later on.

All these trades are probably a bad sign for the 905's chances of competing for a title this year. I would guess that Shead, Ja'Kobe and Mogbo all spend the rest of the year with the Raptors since they're basically the bench now. And Battle might be called up often as well.

Ochai is shooting 41% on the season… why the **** would I complain about someone shooting 40%… see this is what your problem is you’re so **** obsessed with me and my reactions… you do realize that if gradey dick was shooting 40% on the season I would be happy with his performance right? I kept saying all I expect from the guy is to be reliable shooter because nothing else he brings to the table is worth getting excited about and that I don’t even care about his defense… a guy like him that was drafted to be a spacer and shooter just needs to shoot well… so yes I’m gonna complain when essentially a one dimensional shooter who was drafted to shoot is struggling at the one thing he’s supposed to be good at.

Just like I’m gonna have an issue when a guy who Darko went on a rant about being the future face of the league struggles to consistently perform at the level the organization expected of him.

Hence why I also support underrated and often unheralded players like Boucher… because people aren’t watching the same basketball as I am apparently and it’s annoying how people can’t set realistic expectations of players.

I heard them say this year they are running the same system that Darko is so guys will have an easier transition into the NBA. Plug n play. Mentioned it would help guys like Mogbo and Chomche in the future.

Ir really feels like they are back to using the gleague as a pipeline for future Raps. I assume our Portland pick will spend most of the year down there next year. Mogbo might too split time...keep working on the 3. No need to try and rush guys now that we finally have better depth.
