Dallas - Sac - Pelicans : PJ and Herb on the move

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Tue Feb 4, 2025 6:19 pm

With the News of Martin to Dallas -

Kings trade: Spurs 2027 1st, 2 2nds, Colby Jones
Kings Receive: PJ Washington (taken into TPE)

Dallas trades: PJ Washington, Exum, LA 1st
Dallas Receives: Herb Jones

Pelicans Trade: Herb Jones
Pelicans Receive: Exum, Colby Jones, Spurs 2027 1st, Lakers 1st, 2 2nds

Why for Sac? Trade a 1st and 2nds for PJ Washington. Pretty simple, we need forward help, hes the perfect fit.

Why for Dallas? They have a lot of front court players, and Herb is a great defender. I believe this also drops them below the tax again.
Kyrie - Herb - Klay - AD - Lively
Dinwiddie - Christie - Martin - Naji - Gafford

Why for Pelicans? Part of the tear down. Get 2 1sts, 2 2nds and clear some money off the books

Herb is having surgery today(soon) on his shoulder, don't see the Pelicans getting this return until he is medically cleared.

Mavs traded for soon to be 32 year old Anthony Davis to compete now, they can't afford to pay some of their best assets for a player who won't be available this season.

I think it is fair value for the Pels, but I also think an Herb trade would potentially be this summer when the Pels know their draft order and can generate a bidding war. Prior to the AD trade, Mavs supposedly had interest in Herb with offers on the table. It does sound like offers for Herb did not blow Griff away and so Herb is now reportedly going to have surgery to repair his torn labrum.

yeah the Jones injury didn't bother me too much to target him because Luka was likely to sign the supermax extension this summer and Herb worth waiting on. But now with AD/Kyrie, Dallas shouldn't punt down the road.
