Yeah, people could simply look at the graph i posted on previous page since he was drafted and all the way to Christmas game when he got injured. That speaks for itself.

Michael Bradley wrote:I'm not a conspiracy theory guy, sometimes owners/GM's make bad trades for stupid reasons, but I can't wrap my head around this one. It benefits the league far too much. The talk for the past few months about the NBA has been declining ratings. "No one is talking about the NBA right now" or there's no buzz around the regular season. Then boom, this happens. Suddenly a player who in any logical sense would either be a complete untouchable or would be traded for a king's ransom just happens to be moved for a 32 year old injury plagued star and to the 2nd biggest market in the US months after Adam Silver came out and blamed the World Series for the early season viewership decline (a World Series that included.....Los Angeles and New York). Nico makes this trade without even shopping Luka to other teams to get the best package, and apparently he's friends with Pelinka, so it's a complete conflict of interest on top of being a bad basketball trade. The entire sports world is now talking about the NBA just days before the SuperBowl.

Like I said, maybe it's just a bad trade by a bad exec, and unfortunately for Mavs fans they are the ones who suffer for it, but all of this is just all too convenient.

Isn’t the simplest answer the most likely? A dumb GM convinced a new dumb owner to make a stupid trade. We’ve seen plenty of dumb GM/owner combos over the years.

The Adelson family bought the team as an investment to build casinos in Texas. A GM who was a shoe salesman before he got his current position made a terrible evaluation. All Nico had to do was convince Patrick Dumont (who possibly knows nothing about basketball) to make this trade.

There were no real checks and balances to stop Nico and as such this bad trade got made. He only had to run it by one guy who may or may not know anything about basketball.

Luka Doncic is a cold blooded killer. He's Larry Legend #2 right now in that regard, already done legendary things, already had multiple legendary moments in the post season in his career and only he's ONLY 25...

...and the egomaniac tone deaf moran Nike VP of Operations Nepotism Nico Harrison pissed it all away.

Y'all are acting like AD isn't a top 75 player and not the 4th best big man in the league at worst, and probably the best or 2nd best two-way player in the league. I mean I get the vitoual for real, but I also think more ppl should be giving this moment to see how things play out. Mavs have the best big man rotation in the NBA right now

Luka's initial state of shock/sadness is understandable. But he's going to love LA and playing for an iconic franchise like the Lakers a lot more than he did playing for the Mavs.

I'd imagine the one thing that in the immediate term he missed out on is the super max but he stands to make even more with LA, especially when you factor in how many sponsorship deals he's about to get being in the mecca of entertainment.

Saw a hilarious comment on reddit:

"If we fired Nico and hired Wade as our new GM, everyone would welcome the change 1000%"

That's how pissed Dallas fans are :-o

I think he's about second best behind Wemby, maybe third behind Shai, although bigs are more defensively valuable. He's an incredible player and the people that know ball in Dallas will love him. He'll be motivated as hell.

Unfortunately, he's also gonna get skewered by the Dallas Luka fans, and that's unfair to him.

I think he's easily the more underappreciated player of this generation when you look at how fans, players, and GMs talk about him, to say nothing of the loudmouth pundits. I hope taking off the Lakers jersey gets more people to appreciate him, same way the Olympics did.

And? It's entirely plausible that considering the Lakers lack of depth and youth, that the Mavs could have had AD if they offered a package of Kyrie, Hardy and Lively.

Wtf everyone? He doesn't look fat at all. The way people spoke about him, I thought he'd be a fluffy 300 pounder.
He looks as lean as he always does.

There's 100% something else going on beneath this service; if it be injuries/health knowledge, Las Vegas casino related, underground deals, bribing, collusion etc.

Its funny how angles and clothing make someone look slimmer.

Know he's trying to lose the buddha belly after the calf injury and ramping up his conditioning, but he does look chubby regardless.

Disagreed. Luka always shows it in the face, as does everyone... You know this if you watch MMA or boxing (or practice it). Luka's face is thin and that excuse was a pure smokescreen.

By the way, it's funny how I have yet to see one Laker fan complain about this trade. I wonder?
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Nico Harrison...

"But but but last time I saw Luka he was 300 pounds drunk fat and stupid"

What a farce.

Everyone needs to stop making excuses for the guy who came from the corporate world for the SOLE reason that had relationships with players - that is the sole reason that Mark Cuban brought him here. Nico has had a relationship with Anthony Davis for years. This was a nepotism trade.

BELIEVE what Nico told you in the presser AND believe his body language. Listen to his words, think of what it means. Stop the excuses for this scumbag.

That's the position Nico put him in so he's going to have to deal with it.

I just hope that the Lakers LeBron fans are fair to Luka, but I doubt that they will be.

But he'll be ok. Just take time to heal your body and all should be alright. I doubt that the Lakers will put Luka in the kind of positions that Dallas did, and so things should get easier for him.

Adelsons family has NO interest in basketball.

They bought Mavs so they can solidify their presence in the state of texas in order to get permission to build casinos in Dallas!
Last few years they heavily lobbied for this legislature but it was voted against.
Next voting is in 2027.
PLAN A
buy MAVS invest in team, get result out of investment(NBA finals) to help you get this legislature passed
(however it failed vote was again against gambling in Texas)
PLAN B
sell Mavs best player, dont take young prospects and picks back in order to diminish the value of the team
(Decrease in attendance, sponsor withdrawing etc) and threaten Dallas and Texas they will relocate the team to Vegas, if there are no casinos in Dallas. (voting 2027 goes their way)

They tried plan A few times, NOW they are onto plan B.

P.S Business wise long term, you can easily justify drop of several hundred million dollars in Mavs value for billions in revenue coming from new Casino(s) in Dallas.

I’m with you. Let’s see how it plays out. I was a reactionary at the mercy of my emotions but I like this mavs team now especially with Caleb Martin. A championship this year will be fine and the west is wide open.

Why on earth would you think that is entirely plausible, this deal doesn't even seem plausible to the masses and you think the Lakers were gonna trade AD for Kyrie ? No, no I don't think that was plausible sorry

So either Dallas ownership is legit strict on doing it the right way or Luka a nut job OR Dallas actually believes that they can win one this year OR

Dallas is the dumbest org in nba history

All and all I only feel bad for Mavs fans- they deserve better- I hope they win the ring this year - cause this appears to be the ballesy move OR the biggest betrayal in sports history

Look at this graph. Even if everything you said was true, the success the improved play that has happened is nicely summed up in this graph. He should work better on his conditioning, but how does a drunk and fat athlete contribute to all of that? How is that possible.

Since the draft Mavs EPM skyrocketed and went again downhill when Christmas injury happened.

Last years playoff run, just how much of an underdog Mavs really were.

Long story short, Nico is a moron, even if by some miracle Mavs win this seson, he's still a moron, specially how he handled everything on the way out.

ok so they the dumbest organization in the world...but it aint just Nico....IF LUKA AINT A METHED OUT SERIAL KILLER THAT USES HIS MASSAGE SESSIONS LIKE DESHAUN WATSONS, they CraZY
