Dennis is obviously exaggerating, but I'm not gonna like I do feel bad for what happened to Luka.

that's just so incredibly insulting as it relates to actual slaves. what they wouldn't have given to have the choice (this is key) to play a sport and become richer, in many cases 10x or 100x richer than their slave owners.

Something is rotten in golden state.

Weird takeaway
I think Golden State is a crap show.

Tom Seaver (great baseball pitcher, White) remarked on how odd it was that he had an "owner".

They only serve avocado toast and Perrier in the SF training plantation gym.

People in this thread keep referring to slavery in the past tense while in reality there is more slavery now than during the transatlantic slave trade (although the modern definition is also broader than chattel slavery).

If Dennis Schroeder is so concerned about slavery, maybe he can use his millions to help the people actually enduring forced human labor and trafficking rather than insult them with this ridiculous comparison.

Is that why he turned down $84 million?

Stupid semantics. The majority of businesses have an owner.

Owner obviously refers to owning organization, not the players. Are these athletes really this stupid?

What a idiot, he should tell that to the dude working a crappy minimum wage job and on government assistance just so his family can eat. These overpaid athletes have no idea about the real world.

Yeah, of course, we make a lot of money and we can feed our families, but at the end of the day if they say, ‘You’re not coming to work tomorrow, you’re going over there,’ they can decide that. They got to change that a little bit.”

Pisses me off that these dudes downplay slavery showing their absolute ignorance. Slavery presented two choices become property or die. This idiot needs to read or watch a documentary.

Even calling playing a kids game for millions of dollars while we have homeless people, kids in foster system, prison system and poverty causing further problems in this country is past disrespectful.

I don't understand why teams keep signing Schröder, he seems to burn bridges at every stop and wear out his welcome fast... and he's just not even that good of an NBA player.

Obviously this is such a bad take, but I think we've seen a lot of out of touch takes by millionaires & billionaires the last few years. I think haven't that sort of wealth, and the power & isolation and echo chamber it produces has made a lot of these rich people eregiously out of touch with reality.

I would love to see him in a blue collar job getting railed by his employer. This dumb ass needs to realize employers always win the margins and it's not worth fighting against.

Comparing it to slavery is dumb, but it’s still weird when you think about it. You sign a contract to play with a team and then they trade you to a place you didn’t agree to be in.

Is there any other profession where workers can be traded for each other? The concept of trading humans against their will is weird.
