I am not making a direct comparison, but remember the Rockets a few years back? Where the high flyers were Jalen Green and others. But when the one Sengun came off the bench, you could see that guy was different? People were saying the game needs to revolve around Sengun. And they were right once they had the right coach.

Thats how I feel about Matas right now.

Other guys that are going to get the boxscore numbers in Coby, Giddey etc. But any casual fan or fans from other teams can clearly see that Matas is different.

I just hope we continue to groom him the right way going forward.

They were horrible the first 10 minutes. They have played well for 7 minutes.

I'm not saying that we're good, but the ball's moving around, not sticking. Guys weren't hitting their shots, but seemed less afraid to shoot and attack the basket. Guys are moving off the ball a bit more.

For years, most of our guys seemed hesitant to shoot, attack, etc. and deferred to what derozan/lavine wanted to do. It was infuriating.

The guys on this team who are confident, under control, aggressive:

Ball, Ayo, Matas, Smith (and Zach before he left).

The guys Billy was focused on:

Vuc, Williams, White

Everything you are seeing tonight was available to Billy all season long.

It doesn't matter that it was available if we didn't do it, which we didn't.

I'm aware it's one half game. I'm not saying that the team is unlocked and we're gonna be better now without lavine.

I'm just talking about what i'm seeing right now that i haven't seen from this team since before lonzo went down.

Also, on lavine, confident and aggressive, definitely, in control, definitely not. He's made numerous bonehead plays during his time with us because he rarely plays in control. He's a more talented, significantly so, version of coby white.

That is 100% accurate. But I think Billy is doing this with purpose. Probably because how things turned out with PWill.

But Billy Matas isn't PWill.

Matas plays like a #1. Always has. Billy might put him in the corner like a 5th option, but Matas swagger and talent wont let that happen.
