I mean our rookie just had 24/3/2blks shooting a perfect 10-10

They won this game because of Matas' 24 points and Pat's +18 off the bench. Cannot complain.

Its going to look silly after a while keeping him on the bench when we start 4 guards.
Basically, even tonight the minutes get wonky because he is playing off the bench. I think Matas had 15 straight minutes at the end.

Coby? Coby White? Every Guard on the team who has seen meaningful time has outperformed him. And from a scoring standpoint Ayo, Giddey .... and likely Buz... all seem more capable of high scoring with efficiency.
If they rely on Coby it will be just another example of Billy being out to lunch.
Volume scoring is a skill. I'm not a huge fan of Coby but the reason he always has the ball in the half court is bc he's the most versatile scorer of the group. Buzi won't go 10 for 10 if he has to create his own shot. And Ayo/Giddey struggle with reaching the necessary volume. The one skill Coby has over both is that he can get his own shot in the half court more frequently. On the days he does it efficiently, Bulls will miss Zach less.

Yeah he played two 15 minutes long stretches in the middle of the two halves. Very unusual.

Decided to look up Coby and Zach's on/off combinations for the last 3 seasons. You may be right although we'll have to see what happens.

Exactly my thoughts. We want the losses obviously. But the development of young players will be paramount moving forward.

The 2 teams ahead of the Bulls in the standings are 1-9 and 2-8 in their last 10 haha and clearly descending. Bulls get a little post-deadline bump... 8 seed here we come. It would be hilarious.

Very good games tonight from Matas, Ayo, Coby, and Giddey. Matas especially looking better and better, showing us moves we didn’t know he had in him.

He had a move in the 1st that made me jump out my seat. I think his energy changed the game.

Offense gets slightly worse but defense gets a lot better? Yeah, that could be a problem.
Zach's efficiency is obviously gonna be missed, but this team has plenty of shooters who can replace his production. The points aren't gonna come as easily since we have nobody on this roster who can ISO and score 15 points in a quarter, but we do have a couple pass first point guards and a LOT of shooters in every position. Like, it's crazy that in this current Bulls roster, '24-25 Kevin Huerter is our WORST 3pt shooter lol, and dude is a career high volume sniper.
If they keep shooting 40+ 3s and limit their turnovers, we're gonna be glad that AK secured that 2025 pick because we're gonna need it. Philly might eventually(?) pass us, but the two teams directly above us are 2-8 and 1-9 in their last 10.

Let's go for more tank losses like that.

If Matas can be moved for the starting lineup after the deadline there would be no need of tanking. He can become our best player in the future.

Donovan the only coach who finishes the game without 10-10 / 100% shooting player lol

The Bulls still need more players with potential. The 2025 pick is important.

Coby could be receiving a bump from playing with better defenders or not playing against starters. In this sample, I only included games where both Zach and Coby played. So only the first month of last season is included since Zach only played 4-5 games past November. If I include all games, the defense with Coby gets worse. Still, there isn't a drop in performance when Coby is on and Zach isn't.

He was resting on the bench while the trade fodder showcased themselves in the clutch.

If that happens, in the offseason we will be saying "if only we had a highly efficient #2 scorer to pair with Matas" oops. Guess Billy should have found that out earlier.
