PJ is not a natural 3. I think it's problematic. The spacing is also troublesome with so many non-shooter in the lineup. Butler for PJ, Marshall & Powell. Thybulle for Hardy. Develop OMax into Isaac. Turn Lively into floor space. Then, things may work better. Of course, fire Kidd to win anything.

At this point the only way Nico can “win” the trade is to win us a championship within the next 3 seasons. If he does that he’ll always be able to save face.

Mechanically this is an idealized/realistic way a KD trade could materialize under the CBA:

DAL Receives: K. Durant / J. Hayes / D. Reath / T. Camara / R. Rupert

PHO Receives: R. Hachimura / P. Washington / A. Reaves / D. Knecht / DAL ‘25 1st (Unprotected) / LAL ‘29 1st (Unprotected) via DAL / LAL ‘31 1st (Top 10 Protected)

LAL Receives: K. Thompson / D. Gafford / D. Powell / S. Dinwiddie

POR Receives: N. Marshall / Cash Considerations via DAL

In addition to replenishing its draft capital, Phoenix brings in two promising forwards who are entering their prime that can either be retained or traded next season for value. They get a young guard in Reaves and an impressive rookie in Knecht as well.

Portland remains below the luxury tax threshold and adds a nice two way-wing to a roster that’s saturated with bigs and guards.

LA gives up a lot in this deal, but shores up their center rotation in both the short and long term with centers that have plenty of experience rolling to the rim for their new franchise centerpiece. Moreover, they add an elite floor spacer and depth to a depleted guard rotation while dislodging some of their logjam at PF. This allows them to legitimately contend now.

Finally, the Mavs cement their window through the 2027-2028 season by adding one of the best scorers in the league. Given the inescapably bleak long term outlook we already have, if there’s a universe where you can get KD without giving up Lively and the ‘31 1st, you do it every time. Cross your fingers for good health and if you’re lucky enough to have it, you should be favored in virtually any seven game series.

Playoff Rotation:

PG: Kyrie (35) / Exum (15) / Williams
SG: Christie (30) / Hardy (20) / Rupert
SF: Durant (35) / Martin (15) / Edwards
PF: AD (35) / Prosper (15) / Camara
C: Lively (25) / Reath (15) / Hayes

LA can get Turner or Kessler for way less.

Portland is not giving Camara away for Naji. Btw. Camara is way better than Prosper will ever be.

While the likelihood of Dallas pulling this off now appears unlikely, the mere idea of Durant joining Dallas’ star-studded group sheds new light on the thinking of Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison after he was roundly ridiculed for the Dončić deal. – via New York Times

If they trade for KD, that means PJ/Gafford/Klay and all draft capital is gone. Basically changing Mavs in Suns in one week. And Suns apparently wanting out of that awful situation. After 2 years, Mavs will the worse team in the league for 10 years. Destruction of Mavs future in a week.

This offseason will determine so much so it possibly won't be two years. Kyrie will be the firet domino to fall, AD, Klay signed with us for a purpose (Location/Luka). So, I agree, the destruction will come quickly.

If the Mavs misses the playoff, they could still rebuild with a massive salary dump trade for Butler.
Any lineup that is possible at this point concerns me because I don't believe we can beat Lebron/Luka or OKC.

I disagree. There’s no way Ainge gives them Kessler without requiring their ‘31st, and even if Indiana is willing to part with Turner, he’s an inferior (and older 5) for a Luka oriented team compared to Gafford. Not nearly the roller or rebounder. You’re also overlooking the fact that they coveted Klay this summer and likely still do.

Try contributing something constructive for once guy.

I think the Mavs could serve as 3rd team to Butler to GSW trade.
PJ and cap burden plus incentives from GSW to Heat.
Wiggins to Mavs.
Butler to GSW.

Heat gets younger core pieces with pick.
Mavs gets more versatile defender who can guard more positions with playmaking skills.
Golden States gets Butler.

We don't have 3 years window guys, this team not going to win a ring. No way.
First you understand it first you can move on.

2/3 Robins will never beat a Batman. Not even a fat one.

We can talk about "defense win Championship" or "we need ball movement" all day. It's not change reality.

But it's even the main problem here, they pulled away the soul of the fans.

Davis and Irving are mercenaries, i like them but the fans can't "love" them.

RIP Dallas Mavericks.

Are you joking? You said LA should gave away 2031 first and 3 solid players on very friendly contracts for Gafford and Klay, Din and Powell doesn't matter at all. Hayes is better than Powell. Reaves is on a fantastic deal and better than Klay. Knech is a rookie playing fantastic. They're both worth more than Klay. Hachimura is playing well too. Mavs are on the clock with stupid trade, LA aren't. They can easily add some cheap C and wait how the season go, making bigger deals in the summer.

Your proposal makes no sense for LA or Portland. Change Gafford to Lively and a deal might have some sense for LA. Nobody is prepared to pay that much for Gafford.

Nico should have taken that 2031 pick and Reaves from LA in Luka deal. ;)

I think the KD trade boils down to Dallas or Golden State at the moment.

I was just joking about this last night and that they should just go all in at this point. I mean they already traded Luka, any move they make next would be a minor one compared to that. I didn't know the KD thing was THAT serious.

They tried hard to fix the Luka affair, they didn't expect this mess.
They thinked to be over fans brain, untouchables... Some ESPN articles, some YouTube video and nothing more... Instead the NBA world collapsed. OMG.

They were exposed. Too much.

If they will not make a major move soon they are out of city next summer. I don't know how, but it will happen.

Mavs can't afford KD, Suns will want too much probably. Getting KD would be an insane desperation move.

Klay/PJ/Gafford/NAji/Mavs 25 1st/ Lakers 29 1st for KD + Tyus + Plumlee

Kyrie/Jones/Exum
Christie/Hardy/Dinwiddie
KD/Martin
AD/OMax
Lively/Plumlee/Powell

That's the definition of all in, and I would hate it...

You do realize Suns can only send one Player out as long as they're second apron team...so Mavs would have to send Klay/Naji/PJ/Gafford+ probably one or two firsts for KD...if Nico does this it he's an even bigger egomaniac/idiot than I thought

You're talking about a guy who fired Luka's personal trainer (who got him in good shape last year) and then called him fat. I'm telling you anything is possible with this guy. All gloves are off now.
