man, that last frame of clyde and breen in the stands brings me so many memories.

when i was a kid and got to attend games, clyde would legit just be kind of standing around to himself in that first level. more than once i took the opportunity to go down there and shake his hand. he seemed to genuinely appreciate that. as i obviously was too young to have seen him play live.

this has been an amazing ride of fandom.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I grew up with Marv Albert for many years, and never thought there'd be anyone better (not talking about his off the air issues, which I didn't know until much later).

Then I heard Clyde and Breen, and there's never been anyone better. I love them both. Move over Bonnie and Clyde, it's Breen and Clyde, now!

Hukporti noticeably sets screens better, plays with better bball IQ in general.
Not knocking Sims, it's just pretty apparent.

There was a play about 5 minutes in, Huk set a screen for Brunson, rolled, then boxed in Poetl so Brunson had a clear path for the floater.
Then right after he set an effective screen for a Brunson baseline jumper.

And so on.

I didn't realize he had an injury history. Maybe there was some strength and conditioning stuff going on too, along with adjustment to the NBA, and that's why the Knicks brought him along slowly, per JVG comment.

For all the complaining we've done about Thibs with Dadiet, Kolek and Hukporti, Knicks have done a pretty good development job with their young players. So might pay to trust their process with these three. Four if you count McCullars. Who will become the backup SF.

People are pretty short sighted with so many things but especially with young players.

As an example with Deuce it was in his third season that he finally started to do the things conistently that we see him doing now and fans were like why wasn't Thibs playing him all along? He's stupid for not playing him! He doesn't know what he's doing, he hates young players, he doesn't know how to develop them, he's blocking them and blah blah blah.

Yet for the first two and a half season Deuce wasn't doing those things. Sure he showed some defensive chops but his shooting was erratic to woeful most of the time. It was only after developing him did he perform consistently as he finally showed what he is now. But in the short sighted fan's mind this was the guy all along that Thibs didn't see.

Huk has had some flashes but there were times even in garbage time against other end of the bench players he hasn't looked all that great, it was truly garbage time from him. Fans don't see the countless hours coaches are spending with him and the practice time to help develop him, they just look at a boxscore and see how many mins a player gets and decide if he is being developed by it.

It's rare instances a young player can come into the NBA and play consistently at a level that contributes to winning. Just giving them lots of mins doesn't necessarily develop them, Kevin Knox is an example of mins don't mean developing. Even a guy like RJ produced with given mins but it didn't contribute to winning, it was just stats.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

amen. we didn't always have tv growing up. not saying that to share my ghostface story. just saying i also listened to the games on the radio some seasons. hearing clyde on WFAN back then was incredible. i knew his voice long before i really knew who he was or what he looked like.

i am spoiled to have grown up thinking this quality we've had is just what broadcasting is supposed to be. it's also why i'm so appalled by so many other broadcasts. we had so many legends cover our team. marv, gus, breen... RIP jim karvellas and johnny hoops. :brokenheart:

He had streaks last year too. Sometimes he is hitting 3's and making midis, finishing well.

Other days, he has Nerlens Noels hands.

Thibs gets blamed for everything lol. People will blame him for the god damn sun going down man it's unreal

Well for me:
Why Precious can't average higher numbers as it relates to Thibs is that Thibs is not going to play him enough minutes.
KAT/Mitch
OG/Precious
Hart
Bridges/Deuce
Brunson/Payne

Starters all get at least 36mpg, so that leaves 60M for 4 players. Divided equally, that's 15 minutes per. So Precious, when all healthy, is getting 10mpg and on a team because I expect mitch to play above his 15. Then factor in that Brunson, KAT, Bridges, OG, and Payne are all looking for their shots.

The path to 15 points (probably needing to shoot 8 shots per game 4-8 fg with 2ftm) is pretty narrow.

He's dropping tons of points isnt needed. But again dude just had 15 and 15 versus the Lakers. What do y'all expect from a 5th-7th option?

I dont understand why Cam Payne takes those far 3 pointers when he has such a lethal finish to the basket. His one hand scoops to the rim are a thing of beauty.

The question I responded to was "What's stopping him from being a 15ppg guy"
He is great at his role. No notes.

It was interesting how much Hart was trying to save this win. When it got to 3, we started staring at JB for a moment but he kept at it.

Not convinced with the wacky comparisons of giving guys like Knox the keys to a tank team to make a point of how players are developed.

Only on this board the best way to develop players is by giving them DNP’s. Never heard anything like that anywhere else, media, players, or otherwise, except the Knicks forum.

“Players are developed better with more DNP’s!!!” The church of Thibodology bent on the Kool aid.

Anywhere else except here, and the fact is players develop by getting minutes against NBA competition.

You don’t have to hand non-generational youngsters the keys to the team, but you can see if they’re capable by giving them minutes within the structure of the best players/main guys taking the lead. If the youngsters produce , play them…. Give them a role. This gives them confidence.

Now you have cost controlled production than can overachieve some nights. If they develop into real impact players or stars then that’s great.
