So we need a Center now, we are thin up-front.

Kind of obvious what they’re doing. Collect as many Frenchmen as possible (and French speaking George), Wemby signs w us end of his rookie contract. You can not convince me otherwise

Well we have a young and healthy Sar. The we have Bagley if he's healthy and still on the team by tomorrow, we have Holmes if still on the team by tomorrow. We have vuk who is all but sure to get converted and John Brown Jr in the G league who will probably catch a 2 way when we convert Vuk.

The Consiglieri wrote:Ideal use of money on him over the summer. Would have loved a first, but getting a borderline first round level prospect in '23, and 2 future 2nd's for essentially nothing but a contract we didn't care about is fantastic asset management.

willbcocks wrote:This is the clearest example of solid management by winger/Dawkins. Just solid use of cap space for a player who helped and then turned into assets (not great ones, but something).

nate33 wrote:Agreed. The strategy isn't particularly insightful. What made it a solid, competent move was them recognizing that JV was an undervalued asset in free agency and then signing him to a team friendly contract.

Underline all 3 comments. This was an example of intelligent GM-ing.

Cissoko definitely has upside: he is only 20 years old.

Btw, that last point makes me grade the "strategy" aspect of this move higher than you do, nate....

I did notice that Holmes got PT the last couple of games & produced ok.

I never count Bagley in our Center rotation as he is always injured. Vuk at C? OOF, the man is not a Center yet, but he could fill-out in-time, throw him to the wolves I guess.

Yup, he will probably get most of the minutes now.

The strategy is a no-brainer. It's obviously what any competent GM would do. If you are tanking and have cap space, identify the guys who lost out in free agency musical chairs and sign them to value contracts, and then try and trade them at the Deadline. The only hard part is successfully identifying and signing the undervalued guys. Winger/Dawkins did a nice job there.

Brogdon, Holmes, Bagley... but I am not seeing it.

Phoenix would like to move Nurkic but I don't see how we make that happen. Orlando needs a short-term rental on a C - also don't see how to make that one work.

Holmes ALWAYS contributes when he gets PT. Plays hard and smart.

IIRC, PIF you were a fan of Richaun way back when he was with Philly.

Bub made a comment a few days ago about how being around the veteran Holmes has made him aware of the importance of staying ready to play.

he gawn.

C+ trade, at least they got something.

I don't know why they wouldn't fold this into another trade getting a 3rd team out of apron/tax h***? Could've taken Theis for a pick, KJ Martin for 2 more, many others still out there...

The Kuzma trade was Tommy like in that was just cleaning up a mess of their own doing.

I was all ready to make this his theme song, hope he ends up on the Go Go or Two-way.

I hope he signs a two way contract with the GoGo. Cissoko is an interesting prospect

I liked Cissoko as a prospect when he was in the draft. Surprised they would waive him unless the idea is to get him back on a two-way or something.
