LMAO at posters saying both "don't get ahead of yourself" and "see KD doesn't want to come here" and "this thread aged like milk" LOL

THIS IS REAL, FOOLS!

Now maybe everything falls apart - NOBODY knows for sure how trades are going to come down - not the players, not the GMs - until the clock expires.

I'm starting to think that the Dubs aren't going to get anybody. If MDJ won't do a "bad" trade, then maybe there's nothing to be had. No more Oubre signings, please.

Sort of. Looks like it was real interest from the Warriors side and only KD claiming he doesn't want to come here that killed it. Wonder if Lacob/Steph and KD can do some back-channel messaging to see what it would take for him to be OK with it. Maybe nothing, but who knows, people get talked into/out of things every day.

Also, Durant's status for tonight's game changed from GTD to OUT in the last hour. Which again, could mean nothing, or it could mean he's being traded but not to GS. But I don't believe in coincidences in the 24 hours before trade deadline.

Do people really forget how miserable he was in 2019?

Why would he have been miserable?

He left because he didn't like Draymond. The Warriors giving Green a pass for sucker punching Poole probably didn't help his perception of Green and the organization.

Green would have to be shipped out, but even then I don't know if it's enough.

KD hates Draymond and thinks Kerr is a cornball. There is literally zero reason to come back here besides Steph Curry.

Players don't like Kerr and they don't like Lacob. San Francisco is an uncool city. There is next to nothing appealing about the Warriors besides 30.

Warriors will give it all to trade for Durant today.
Green, Kuminga, fillers and draft picks.

This is my prediction

KD hates Draymond and went on his podcast to talk about why he left, with Draymond, citing that the FO didnt take charge of the situation. I mean that's directly from him, on a podcast he volunteered to do, with Draymond. He's been pretty clear why he left, and the Suns were apparently coveting Draymond anyways. And he still said no

In order to get to KD's salary level with enough space to sign replacement FAs, the entire team will need to be gutted. Its not happening - this was *the* move. A halfcourt player in a motion offense. Well I guess it worked well enough with Schroeder

If Warriors stay to the Butler trade, it was a mistake.
And giving him 2yr 120m extension is the worst part.

I think they will try to acquire Durant.
Can Butler be traded to Suns right away?

Theoretically they could have traded him to the Suns in a 3-way deal, but they announced the extension immediately after the deal, meaning the Warriors not only had this trade lined up for a while, they already got to negotiate with Butler's agent

So no, Butler's not going out the door. There may be another deal in the works, but it would almost certainly be a smaller one. The team's core is now Curry-Butler-Dray-JK-Podz-Moody now. Time to start looking at mid-round 1sts... starting in 2026

Because OP still believes in "KD back to the Warriors." I think he's trying to speak it into existence.

The Warriors closed the deal for Butler after negotiations to acquire Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant ended when Durant informed the team he did not want to return to Golden State, sources said. The Warriors, Heat and Suns had been nearing an agreement on a trade that would've landed Butler in Phoenix and Durant back where he won championships in 2017 and 2018.

It was real.

Ironic that it fell apart because KD didn't want to play for the Warriors, when originally the Warriors were after Jimmy Butler and Jimmy nixed the deal.

I would rather have KD, but I like the deal - it's an upgrade, but the Warriors don't sacrifice their long-term assets, including their cap space after Butler's short-term extension expires.

Also it's hard to say that MDJ and the Warriors aren't trying hard to make the team better - they've been after LeBron, KD, and finally got it done with Jimmy Butler. And Jimmy Butler, though he's on the Steph/Draymond timeline, is a better player - and especially a better two-way player - than Lauri Lauri Markkanen. And probably a safer gamble than Paul George. And they still didn't have to give up their young players.

Going on his podcast doesn't mean he has any interest in playing with or being on a team with him. It just means they're cordial.
