Horst love the idea of that stretch 4 that doesnt do much else. Mriotic, Sandro, teletovic, DJ Wilson, Tyler Smith, Ersan again, Ingles.

* Midds is cooked physically. Kuzma is a worse player but at least he’ll play.
* we need to get under the second apron.

I assume we could not dump Pat’s salary without giving up a first, which is the right call. It’s clear the franchise values that 31 pick more than AJJ. This is probably the right call.

Team obv still values Brolo but I wonder what this means for him in FA this year. It’d be weird to let him walk for nothing now it seems unlikely we’ll deal him this deadline.

I guess the simple answer here is the Bucks had no faith in Khris’s ability to stay on the floor long term and wanted to salvage whatever they could. Kuz was an acceptable return. They’re #1 priority was to get under the apron and Khris was the most palatable way to make this happen.

Anyhoo this is def going to bite us in the backside. Whether it’s Midds becoming a vital piece on a contender in the next couple of years (likely) or AJJ becoming a useful to really good player (less likely) I think this one will be there with the Tobes trade in stupidity.

This seems spot on, and similar to my thoughts. I hated the trade at first, but I understand it. I think this was basically the last option.

I have been confused with everyone saying Middleton sucks and is cooked, thinking we will get some big return. If he is truly relegated to 20ish minutes a night with awful d, what did you expect?

My assumption is they think Kuzma will be more motivated now, has defensive versatility, and has played a complementary role before.

I still don't love it, but our options are so limited due to our salary and asset issues. Hopefully we make some more moves now with the flexibility.

Only thing that makes sense is we have gone from:

Khris who has played 111 of our last 212 games (52%) at about 24 minutes and 15,4,5
to
Kuzma who has played 166 of 213 (78%) at 32 minutes and delivering 20, 4, 5

Kris is the better player IF he can play and play the minutes we need. I think its fair to say he can't anymore. Just don't think what we got back moves the needle :-(

We'll see Butler in Milwaukee Monday night
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Betcha Miami would have rather taken Middleton for 2 years over Wiggins for 3.

I mean these deals aren't finalized. Would Miami rather have Kuzma lower third year salary than Wiggins? They eat Pats salary?

We all knew Kris had negative trade value, basically like trading Gilbert Areanas back in the day. What did you expect.

Saw Khris in a Wizards mock up and man the situation did him so dirty. Not sure he deserved to have that on his wiki page.

I actually stopped the last two seasons because I felt it was too late. He's been worth to us than anything he could reasonably bring back in a trade. We can hearken back to the days of Middleton for Haliburton though, and the things people said about that idea. (Let's not hearken back to the days of Middleton for Dragan Bender, that would be entirely too much hearkening imo)

I think there may have been a sliver of opportunity after the playoffs this past season, prior to Khris having two ankle surgeries and taking forever to return. He looked so great in that series that I have to imagine we could have netted a better return, especially if we attached the 24 FRP.

The problem is that noone is really motivated to make moves by then. They focus on the draft and free agency.. then they want to evaluate what they have... habitually overvalue their players and ask for way too much.... the deadline lights a fire under peoples' bottom and there's no more time to see how stuff plays out. It was always and only going to end this way and the most we were ever going to get for him was MN Butler.. we overvalued our guy and squandered that opportunity so we just kept paying him so he can show effort when he feels like it.
