Comparing it to slavery is dumb, but it’s still weird when you think about it. You sign a contract to play with a team and then they trade you to a place you didn’t agree to be in.

Is there any other profession where workers can be traded for each other? The concept of trading humans against their will is weird.

It's not against their will. They signed a contract that allows it.

And there's an easy way to get out of the contract. Don't move to the city you're traded to. That voids the contract, you can stay wherever. Very simple stuff. Nobody is forcing these guys to play in the NBA. They can play basketball overseas, or they can get a job as an accountant, plumber, artisan cheese maker, or whatever they believe they have the skill/aptitude/desire to do.

Exactly, also, if my current employer offered me a multi-mil a year paycheck with the only stipulation that they might ship me off to a list of one of 29 other companies - I'd probably pull a muscle trying to sign that contract as quick as possible.

The average 9-5 office worker paying off their bills and debts is about 10,000 times more of a modern day slave than someone who is paid tens of millions a year to play basketball.

Yup, lots of owners rake in the profits based on the labor of workers, but provide much less value to the business, and pretty much zero value on a day to day basis.

The players want it all, everything. That’s not going to happen. Maybe in some fantasy land. They’ve been put on a pedestal early on in life and if they are identified with talent, given everything. When they are given some discomfort, they compare it to slavery. They are living in heaven, but their pride creates conflict.

Not one person is going to get everything they want without paying some price. Even the owners have to watch what they do among the fans, customers, shareholders, partners, players, the league, sponsors. If one person takes too much without giving back something there’s going to be conflict. Some players are living in fantasy land until Father Time wakes them up.

This is so dumb, you're signing a contract without a no-trade clause, so you're agreeing to being OK with this. If you're not, get another job. Making millions a year to play basketball is certainly not slavery.

Yeah, I mean, besides slave comments, he was kinda right, he basically said 'business is business and all NBA players are extremely lucky to be here, but it's crazyy you can be traded any day anywhere even if you're Luka Doncic'. Not that I feel sorry for millionaires, but yeah, if you're a role player, I guess it's hard for many players to have any REAL connection to the city/players knowing you are easily dispensable and live on day-to-day basis. It turned out you're easily dispensable even if you're Luka Doncic.

But these slave comments were tough to swallow, lol.
