So if Lakers are healthy I think they win a championship. Wow.

Rob is so bad at his job, but this should help the Lakers this year so I’m cool with it. Desperately needed a center.

Not particularly digging this one. Think I would've preferred cheaper/more experienced/less upside and tried to hang onto the picks.

Strong lob threat at least, but seems injury prone and grades out pretty rough on defense.

Uh no lol. I mean I guess they have a punchers chance, they’re not beating the Thunder or a motivated Boston.

Damn, this Mark Williams deal is such a multi-dimensional gamble.

1. Lakers have great scouting department so they definitely know a lot about Williams, but his defensive numbers are really terrible:

67.6 DFG% at rim this year, 65.1 DFG% at rim last year, 62,6 DFG% at rim as a rookie.
51.7 DFG% this year, 53.5 DFG% last year, 47.6 DFG% as a rookie.

It doesn't mean he can't instantly turn it on once he gets to much better team (and coaching) than Hornets, but didn't we see plenty ot athletic centers putting up great stats and not having basketball IQ and motor on defensive end?

2. He's such a great fit for Lakers, one of the best lob threats in the NBA and can't be fouled easily as he's a very decent free throw shooting C.

Doncic-Reaves-LeBron-Williams is the best offensive talent that LeBron has had since 2017. Lakers have spacing, creators, slashers, shooters, vertical threat - this will be an ELITE offensive team.

3. He's such an injury-prone guy and he costs so much, Lakers basically invested most of their assets in him.

Rating range here is quite diversified, lol, it can be a really terrible and a really great move.

-----

I'm not going to complain though, I wouldn't even dream before Christmas that Lakers will end up with Doncic-Reaves-DFS-LeBron-Williams lineup.

They also have Hachimura (shooting over 40% from 3s), Vincent (shooting 40% from 3s since December) on the bench.

I don't think we as LeBron fans could've dreamed about anything better in these twilight LeBron years.

Need to know more about Williams’ defense. Who’s got the scoop? I don’t watch Hornets really.

Advanced metrics dont seem great

Image

But this is the deal we had to make looks like

Seems like we just didnt have enough for Utah or they really like Kessler

I assume/hope we offered this package to them and unprotecting the 27 1st rd pick

Knecht is currently a pretty bad player, has real upside, but not ready to even play off the bench yet in the playoffs.

Just misses too many good looks from 3 and a horrific defender, wouldnt fit in

This deal is worth the risk for BOTH sides imo

CHA gets good value as I think Knecht does have upside, but needs at least another year to contribute

The 31 1st could be decent, who knows, Lebron is gone by then....at least you would think

And a pick swap in 2030 is not nothing, Lamelo at his Peak and Miller+whatever other young guys they got

Mark is also an injury risk, but this deal gives you a shot THIS SEASON and in the future to win it all.

It was either this or try and get a guy like Landale with Maxi+2nd or somehow get Sharpe with a swap and 2nds/unprotect Utah/Knecht and ask for 2nds back

Sooo what is next?

Vincent, Luka, DFS, Bron, Williams,
Reaves, ??, Vando, Rui, Hayes

Maxi+2nd+swap?? for a 2/3 or 1/2. Not many names I can think of besides Thybulle here for a 2nd.

Can also dump him for a 2nd if someone wants him and we get under the 1st appron... but who are buyout candidates that fit

I'm just not fan of this move, opportunity cost is massive

Yeah Pelinka overpaid but what does it really matter for LeBron now. That's a lakers after LeBron problem. For now it's a fine move to make, he's got the 4th highest PER in the league and is an above average defender at C.

He has played 25 games more than Timelord the last 3 years, might as well have just gotten him for nothing.

Edit - first year missed games may have been not injury, but still 41 games last 2 years vs 24 for Timelord.

For this season for sure. Could've build a better team for 25-26 season though

But the offense will be nasty, they already borderline top 10 unit. Now with Doncic and Williams they have a shot for top 3
