I could live with Ayton if he signed a reasonable extension but not for the the $50+ million
he was eligible to sign for
he was eligible to sign for

15-20 mil per season wouldn't be horrendous. Anything much over would be a mistake

I'm kinda curious if there's some backing and filling moves after the big moves got finished up

Well there goes the Lakers idea. Mark Williams for knect 1 first and a first swap

Re: Ayton, Grant, and Simons for anything?
Damn, this trade deadline is one of the busiest I can remember!
I don't know about this trade for Charlotte...if healthy, Mark Williams is very, very good, and you just gave him up for a role player and a first from a team that has Lebron, Doncic and now a Lob threat.
For the Lakers they gave up their only real assets for a very injury prone big.
Kinda high risk for both sides, but I guess I get it from both sides, too...

Those picks may not be good but Charlotte got a decent prospect in knect as well as they won't have to worry about an extension for Williams. From a cap standpoint may be argued as a win especially if Williams has injury issues
Otoh Williams seems like a high upside guy who could do well in LA. Definitely I agree you could make a case how it's decent from either side

Good player when he plays. Sucks for the Blazer fans who likely will be sitting on the sidelines
at the trade deadline.
at the trade deadline.

Re: Ayton, Grant, and Simons for anything?
The Hornets no longer have a center and there is no center worth drafting with their high lottery pick.
I wonder if they would trade their high lottery pick (top 3 protected) for Clingan, if Portland extends
Ayton to a reasonable extension.

Really?
I thought they did amazing with their return.
They get a top 20 pick in this draft for a complete headache

The key is signing Ayton to that reasonable extension.
The guy really seems to like it in Portland. I don't know if he'd sign an extension for less money but he might
think signing for more money is nuts. It might be okay if he signed for more or less Ant's money.
I'm still hoping Ant gets traded to Orlando tomorrow.

I don't think I like the Tier 2 prospects enough to trade one for Clingan. Maybe for KJ... Portland would probably have to do that though...

They did ok for the circumstances i just think it's funny they were lowballing for Dame and then this situation caused them to get quite a bit less for Jimmy buckets

This draft is top 4-5 loaded and the chance at that 4th or 5th pick would be pretty lucrative. Top 5 protected would change the dynamics quite a bit

This is one of the busiest trade deadlines that I can remember in recent history, and Cronin is doing nothing, when he has multiple players to trade, all these other teams are making the POR front office look ridiculous.

Re: Ayton, Grant, and Simons for anything?
Ayton is Fool’s gold, plays like Tarzan for a few games, and then goes back to Jane for the rest, he isn’t worth his contract now, and he isn’t worth a contract at $20 million per either, the classic underachiever
Has no one else watched him for this whole season? One stretch of games does not erase the lazy & disinterested player that he’s been before then
I think trading Clingan to move up a few spots in this draft is foolish, for who? Unless it is Flagg , or Harper, it is debatable whether any other player is worth it. And putting your faith in DeAndre is just asking to be disappointed.
