I’m going to miss Jericho Sims and his crazy hops and his expressionless face and his lack of offense more than two feet away from the basket.

On the plus side I’m excited to see more Ariel Hukporti.

I wasn't expecting to get anything. I actually thought they would just try to get a 2nd round pick and open a roster spot.

By taking on Wright they will are right up against the 2nd apron where they can't add much. So yes I wasn't expecting much of a return but I think adding more of a guard glut doens't make sense unless they move another piece. Which is possible.

I half expected NY to give up a 2nd round pick to shed Sims' salary. Not joking. You don't just get a team to take 2 million dollars without paying something to make it happen.

As for Wright, I said it above. This feels very lateral. Didn't add much of anything or give up much of anything.

Do you have an example of a deal with a team that could have absorbed Sims' contract and would be willing to compensate New York with a 2nd for helping them to clear the salary of their 3rd/4th string big?

It looked like when you play 2K and try to trade an awful 15th player who will never play on your team. But all the players offered in exchange are equally awful or even worse. In the end, you accept an even worse player plus a TPE or a second round in return. Because the TPE or the second is better than nothing.

You could have dumped Sims by giving a low second round in return. At least we could have some wing depth.

I don't know how accurate this is but right now I only see 2 teams on Spotrac with room under the first apron and an open roster spot to absorb Sims contract without sending anything back. The Spurs and the Kings. Do they really need Sims? Is another team going to cut a player or Sims just to get a low 2nd rounder? Should the Knicks be paying to dump Sims?

I'm really curious about an example of a deal where a team could absorb Sims' contract. Maybe i'm not seeing it. We aren't the only team dealing with the apron rules. Maybe we could have found a way to dump him another 3 way deal or maybe the Knicks really wanted Wright or maybe no one wanted Sims

Not that it matters because I doubt he'll ever see the floor for this team, but still.

By now, we should all know how Brock Aller works. We should also understand that trade details don't happen neatly and all at once for fans to critique. So, we probably shouldn't judge this trade until after tomorrow's deadline since a lot can change between now and then.

All the moving parts (including the Euro players, cash, etc.) make me think there's more to this than meets the eye. Maybe Wright gets flipped to another team. Maybe we keep Wright and wave someone. Maybe additional parts get added to this already 3-team deal. Things look very incomplete at the moment.

Aller always plays chess. Let's see what his next move will be.

Most likely Wright will be traded again for Alec Burks.
