The one thing I don’t like about this trade is the protection. I feel like the Raptors have a legit shot to be better than Indiana next season if they keep their defensive guys like Mitchell.

That's an insane haul.

and this was with Siakam's agent actively harming his trade value via the media

Shead / Mitchell not part of Siakam tree
unless im missing something , those guys came from signing mcdaniels and fleeced SAC

We were able to do the SAC trade because of the TPE created from the Siakam deal.

Twitter is crazy right now. Half the people think Masai pulled off a heist. The other half think he's lost the plot.

Masai may have just bet his career and reputation on a Brandon Ingram move...

Why would Ingram, who is a pending FA, agree to sitting rest of this season, when he becomes healthy?

If Masai has given Ingram a promise for his next contract, why would Ingram forgo the FA market unless it's an obvious overpay?

ya i hope lol

why wouldn't he....can rehab as long as he likes this season, and he will get paid big.

For the most part big name players will re-sign with the Raptors, you just have to pay them well.

Paying big money for a part timer worries me ....Ingram has not put together a healthy season in years....Talented player but its a risk at the price tag.

the contract is the most worrying part.....what we gave up or the tank being "ruined" is not the problem imo. The tank was already ruined before the Ingram trade....at best we finish 6th or 7th

I watched a decent amount of NO games and I feel like Zion doesn't really mesh with anyone, he just does his own thing and puts up monster stats.

Whereas someone like Barnes is moving the ball and trying to get teammates involved. I think he'll have much better chemistry playing with Scottie.

I never thought I would see the day that Rob Pelinka was outclassing Masai.

Basically we traded Pascal and Thad for Ingram, Ochai and Jakobe, I think Masai did good here. Now we just hope BI will be resigned to no more than 40 mil/year.

This franchise mandate has always been to our the best team on paper possible while staying under the tax. It's been like that before Masai. We now have arguably the 3rd 4th, best offensive SF in franchise history for an expiring Brown Kelly with a yr left at 12 and a 1st that's not in our control. A 2031 2nd as well

running the Lakers is a much easier job than the Raptors.....one has stars flocking to it and the other doesn't

It's a great trade

Except the Kawhi trade was made with a multiple time 50 win team, not a multiple time 20 win team. It's kinda weird that people see that he didn't give up anything of value, and think that, that was him making a great trade, and not the inverse.

How is it a heist? at best it was fair market for "bird rights" to an oft injured 1x all-star (Siakam level player but a bit worse). So essentially a sign and trade. If Ingram plays this year it makes the trade worse.

Yeah right, when has Masai played hard ball with agent, he'll get 3 years easy, hopefully it's not 40 mill per. WE've always paid our free agents well, look at the kelly contract that was handed out after we acquired, had no reason to give him another year, doubtful other teams were going to give kelly 2 years deal in the offseason for more than MLE.

My guess is if we made this deal, we have an idea what the agent/Ingram wants, and we are going to pay it.

I mean Pelinka was just given Doncic, he didn't have to try and get him. I don't think I'm going to rate the guy cause the Dallas GM was either a moron or intentionally sabotaging the future of Dallas.

The strange part is, Raptors didn't want to give Siakam the Max and he's a better player but they are seemingly willing to give BI the max which makes very little sense to me. Yes he's three years younger but BI's max this summer is like 5 years $270 million.

Hate this trade. We’re going to overpay Ingram for sure. Going to hurt our draft slot. Going to hate watching Ingram dribble into midrange jumpers all the time and not use his size to defend.

This FO better hit it out of the park with the 9th pick this year or I’m out.

Two things about Ingram that I'm not fond of: his defence and his ball stopping. Although in both cases I think he's capable of being better. This will be a real development challenge for Darko and the coaching staff to see if they can get a guy who will be 28 when next season starts to change his habits a bit.

On the ball-stopping, he's definitely a capable passer (over 25% AST% the last 4 years) he just needs to learn to move the ball quicker. I think that's doable. What might be more difficult is getting a player who's been disinterested on the defensive end for much of his career to finally buy in and work hard on that end.

We'll see.

I got no problems with that

we have no bag barnes who refuses to take over and score. Its nice to have a finisher
