Are people really whining about the 2031? lol

Lakers don't care about a pick 6 years in the future. It's easy to pick up 1st round picks through trades

Knecht is worth 2 second round picks maybe. A large bag of Funyuns to sweeten the deal.

I don't get this post Williams and Luka are 23 and 25 respectively.

Mark Williams is Greg Oden 2.0. He might be out of the NBA far sooner than what anyone would expect with his injury issues. Far as Luka Doncic, you do know that Luka Doncic can opt out of his contract after next season right?

This is how you know when someone would’ve criticized the lakers no matter what

Do you know what’s the best way to ensure Luka wants to stay? By doing whatever you can to build a winner around him and LeBron right now, not by sitting around doing nothing waiting for LeBron to retire and for Luka’s contract to expire.

One more shutdown guard or wing defender like a Kris Dunn and this Lakers team is an upset threat to OKC. Mainly because the duo of Luka/LeBron at their best can feasibly outplay SGA/Jalen in a series.

Feel bad for Hornets fans. That franchise isn't even trying.

Seems like a lot at first, but when you check out Mark Williams it’s gotta be worth the gamble. Only 23 years old, 7’0” 240 frame, and he’s averaging 16/10/2.5/1.2 in only 25 mins.

I’m gonna miss Knecht though, I loved him. Firsts don’t bother me too much.

If he can be a consistent rim runner and figure out eventually how to alter shots, I’m good with it.

Not judging the trade itself.
Just think about Knecht.
He got drafted to play with LeBron in LA, even got a decent run so far this decent on a playoff contender.
Then Luka news, which means at least half a dozen wide open looks from beyond the arc for Knecht each game. And in general, a few years of a deep playoff run.
And then a couple of days later you have 24 hours to pack your essentials and fly to Charlotte, a tanking team with tiktok point guard and no plans to contend in the nearest future.

Genuinely don't know a thing about him, but that means Charlotte basically has no big vs Wemby on Friday so im happy about that

Is that really the right move? Mark Williams is good, but he's rarely healthy. Nic Claxton would've been a much safer bet and would've been basically the same price or less in terms of assets.

Lotto balls wise I'm assuming Charlottes quite content with every big they play against for the rest of the season feasting including Wemby.

ryguy613 wrote:is that really the metric we're using? AD cooks every big. He literally cooked Wemby last time they played. Unless youre trading for like... Jokic... youre gonna be trading for a big that AD has cooked.

The important thing isnt whether or not he wins his matchups with AD. Its how he fits into their entire gameplan on both defense and offense.

I agree, but Williams is the 4th worst defender in terms of DFG% (>12 DFGA) and the worst in the whole league in terms of DFG% at rim (>6 DFGA), so it seems he's being cooked by everyone. He literally has one of the worst defensive splits in the NBA, hard to ignore that.

I agree that Mark Williams is risker, but Williams has far more potential.

I was not familiar with his game, but within a few seconds of watching his highlight reel - a few seconds ago - Greg Oden (in a bad way) was the name that came to mind. He moves like a guy with an expiration date for basketball.

But the Lakers will land on their feet even if he flames out. The NBA will see to that.

I think this off season the Hornets should trade Ball for as many assets as they can get. They can't trust his health.

He's on pace to play 52 games this season. He played 22 last year and 36 the year before that.

Pelinka and the Lakers quietly building an F35 as they fly it.

Egregious underpay on Luka meant some wiggle room on an overpay on MW but overall net positive.

Love him or hate him he's front runner for Exec of the Year

I actually think this is a fair trade both sides ...on paper. Problem is Mark Williams is constantly injured, so the Lakers are basically going to need another starter quality big as insurance policy.

Lakers fans frantically searching for Mark Williams highlights because they’ve never willingly watched a Hornets game when they haven’t played them.
