Hopefully some protection here. I really thought there was a good chance he went and played with his brother.

Feels like a really good extension from the Bulls perspective. Lonzo has been down on his shooting splits, but a degree of the impact is still there and with some luck he will end up back near his best next season.

Money wise it's not a gamble. But still a why? Move. We need to tear the whole roof off not patch it

Seems like he’ll be easily tradable at that number if his legs hold up. I know I wanted him in Detroit at the deadline if the price was reasonable.

Sounds like a 1+1 team option, love it for the Bulls. Also this puts those ridiculous buyout rumors to rest.

Lonzo values 10 per over the chance at 20 and the chance at zero?

Super happy as a Bulls' fan-he's a vet leader and our smartest player. We can have A TON of 2026 cap space, and this doesn't affect it. Ball's getting better as the season goes on

This is one I don't get! Maybe a 1+1 they kick the can down the road till next year on Lonzo maybe he recovers a bit of value.

Absolutely a killer deal for Chicago, and solid security for Lonzo Ball.

This moves keep Chicago where it exactly is. On the treadmill.

Re: Shams: Lonzo Extends
1. Is Lonzo still trade eligible this year?
2. Would any playoff team trade for him knowing his knee might not hold up?
3. The Bulls lose the expiring incentive and now must shift the risk of health related problems on the team acquiring him. In other words, instead of getting an expiring Lonzo plus bird rights and hopefully getting him to sign a prove it deal, now the acquiring team might be stuck paying 20 million to a player whose meniscus might be an issue next year.

Good for Lonzo. I'm happy he's recovering after all those horrendous injuries. He seems like a really good kid and is so fun to watch too.

#3 isn’t true at all. To keep him past this year, you gotta sign him to some kind of deal, and a 1+1 with a team option on the second year is as safe as it gets. The only downside is if he goes down hard THIS year, but that’s why Lonzo took the team-friendly deal for some guaranteed money. You can’t blame the guy for being worried after all he’s been through.

Dang, was really hoping they'd trade him to the Pistons.

Think the rule is if an extension includes more than a 5% change in salary you have to wait out the 6 months. So no he’s not eligible
