Yeah Brooks not that guy anymore. He's hurting our rebounding not helping. Bobby works him on the boards..Brook used to be known for boxing out and tap outs (you get credit for rebounds on tap outs). Physically he's still strong but he's off balance and out of place a lot more this year. Way too slow.

Jimmy or KD was really the only swing I could see making us a legitimate title team this season, so at this point I'm just resigned to our likely fate. Giving up assets for Kuzma tells me that the organization is fine just straddling this line as a half-contender when they really should be picking a damn direction either way.

Whatever. I fully expect the inevitable Brook and another asset for Marcus Smart trade to happen because we have zero vision or creativity when it comes to roster construction. Doc apparently did what Kidd couldn't, and for whatever reason it seems like we're letting him run the show.

Or Nic Claxton, Walker Kessler, Gafford, Myles Turner, heck I would even take a Zubac at this point.

Or you know, we could have traded up for Missi, Clingan, Edey, Ware, or just straight up drafted Filipowski instead of drafting some dude who might be good in three years and using him as a throw in to an at best questionable trade.

Since the trade I am questioning if they really drafted him on potential or they always wanted him as an asset (so just draft someone very young that can show flashes no matter the fit). He didn't play much and was always somewhat of an unknown due to his year in AUS. So a rebuilding team can be convinced that he is as good as a draft pick.

If Horst was convinced at the draft that there was no one good enough to be used this year why not go for the most obscure guy to be able to shop easily later.

I dont really understand grading the Khris trade a D. Reports said Horst had been working on a Khris trade since November. With the deadline approaching, he took the best deal he could get and he had good reason to think it was the best possible deal. Its not like he started the process three days ago. Market value is market value.

The real D, or really, the F--- here, is that Khris got hurt in the playoffs three years ago and was never able to fully recover. We gambled that he could do it, and he couldnt.

If you look at all the dimensions of this trade, its actually a very well crafted transaction:

Got four years younger and more reliable at that slot
Great contract: not only amount but it declines each year
Under 2nd apron
Striking distance of opening tpmle or even mle this off-season
Got standard late first round value (shedding 8-12M) for our pick that came from a terrible draft.

If a continuation of 2024-25 Kuzma shows up in Milwaukee, I think somehow we’ll miss the nothing burgers from Middleton more. Unfortunately I think it’s all in Doc’s hands now to put it all back together and I have little faith in that regard. But I do think Ham, Joerger, Buckner and Prunty are a viable brain trust so there’s a silver lining.

I’m a numbers guy, any update on what number Kuzma will wear since he obviously can’t wear 33?

Why is that? I think most people understand this team is not a serious contender this year.

This cannot be definitively said, with Giannis and Dame on the team.

If both healthy, we don't know what their playoff ceiling is. Even if it may not be super likely, it's 100% possible they become a real contender.

We have been talking about Giannis at C for years. It's now or never for a ton of reasons.

1) Bucks just traded for Kuzma who can play at SF but has size and is better suited at PF
2) Bucks are willing more than ever to become faster and more athletic after trading Midds for Kuz
3) Bucks have none championship nostalgia to keep Brook after parting ways with Bud, Jrue, Midds
4) Giannis just entered his 30s and needs to stop running through people to extend his career
5) Lopez just turned 36, is no longer a DPOY candidate and just kills the possibility to run teams
6) What's to lose?

Cam Johnson seems the perfect target IMO. Similar timeline, contract, pace and size with Kuzma, both have already served as viable 3A/3B options in contenders. You need two big forwards next to Giannis at C to help him with rebounding and not sacrifising his body too much. With Cam/Kuz/Bobby you can have two of those at all times. Johnson provides even more spacing as a 40% career 3p shooter. I expect Kuzma going back to his LA 36% 3p shooting now that he won't be just chucking like he did in DC.

And you also have the piece to make it work. With Sacramento done trading I don't believe the Nets can find a better return than a MIL 2031 FRP. Utah has alreasy set a market of three mid-low firsts for that and Brooklyn would be OK with two of these for Cam. I would even get greedy and ask for the other Cam too for that pick.

Lillard/Thomas
Green/Trent
Johnson/Jackson
Kuzma/Prince
Giannis/Portis

Make it happen Horst!

MIL Hunter

GSW Bobby/Marjon

ATL-Payton/Pat/Marjon/GSW 2nds/ MLW 2031 first

This is the appropriate punishment for my attempt to illuminate on nuance.

Yes, Kuzma was the worst player on the Wizards. Thats bulletproof analysis.

People really thinking Horst is playing chess when everyone is playing checkers... His track record has proven he doesn't know wtf game he is playing.

My nets idea still makes so much sense

Brook/Pat/Marjon/Draft capital they can have Livingston too if they want so we can clear a spot for Rollins or a buyout

Cam Johnson/Ziare Williams/Dayron Sharpe

We would no longer be the nba retirement home

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
