League quaking in their boots right now at this masterful trade/shoring up of the bench.

Maybe the Knicks need that extra mill to complete a trade.
We'll see.
doesnt add mil to payroll
delon counts 2 mil to cap and 2 mil paid by knicks/bucks (nba hq pays him the extra 1 mil which doesnt count toward cap)
sims counts 2 mil to cap and gets paid 2 mil by the knicks/bucks.
Ah ok, thank you. I guess this is simply a depth move with maybe the potential to use Delon in a trade during the offseason like the Knicks did in the recent past when making the Bridges trade.
And they get a prospect to stash, plus cash for Dolan (unless this cash can now be used in a different trade under the new CBA, no idea).

Maybe Thibs doesn't trust Kolek defense yet and needs guard depth for the playoff.

Because Deuce, Payne, Shamet isn't enough?
And Bridges, Hart and OG are going to be playing at least 40 mpg.
Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of reducing the number of centers from 5 to 4.
Not sure the team needs to have 8 of it's roster spots taken by guards most of which are 6'4" or shorter
Brunson
Bridges
Hart
Deuce
Payne
Kolek
Shamet
Wright
At least Hart can play 2,3,4 and Bridges can play 2,3

This team is 6 guards, 6 centers and 3 wings basically
What does this front office have against players over 6'7" that aren't frontcourt players?

The Lakers make the Luca trade and the Knicks end up with Delon, sounds about right.

to be fair outside of finding a true #1 option superstar...there is a dearth of useful two way wings.
That is why OG gets paid what he got paid
Its why Mikal got traded for what he got traded for
Its why Cam Johnson when he gets traded his return will be more than people expect.
Like if your in the 6'6 to 6'9 range and have any skill you probably are pretty damn useful. THe problem is with guys like that most can't either shoot, or they can stretch the floor but they can't defend.

Re: Per Shams - Sims traded to MIL for Delon Wright
To be fair...Shamet's been terrible, so I suppose there's an opportunity for Wright to be better. But this isn't the return I was hoping for in a Sims trade...and all I wanted was a second-round pick or two. I guess Sims was a negative asset after all, so much for the rim protection stats Thibs kept gassing.

Prayers up that TJ Warren is the answer whenever his pro-rated contract fits under the second apron.

I wouldn’t say negative he was expiring it’s not like we had to attach a pick to get rid of him. but he had zero value

Shamet has been playing the 3 though....Delon Wright is not a 3...

I'm not a fan...not a shooter or defender...he's kinda a mid range merchant and is a traffic cone defensively. I would much rather take a shot at Torrey Craig...he can defend and is ok in spot up 3 situations.
Or if a better option hits the buyout market.

Yeah, that's fair. But not even being able to salary dump him for extra wiggle room under the second apron is depressing.

This would make sense had we not drafted a wing in the 1st to not play him, while passing up on another wing who does get minutes for a team trying to contend in Ryan Dunn. Hell, add Jaylen Wells to the list too, we passed on him multiple times and he's starting for the Grizzlies, and only Bub Carrington has more minutes played from rookies this year. Could've even drafted him in the 2nd but we took Kolek.

It really does suck we needed the financial savings to draft Dadiet....Ryan Dunn would have been perfect OG insurance.

wasn't the Dadiet draft pick basically to get him to take less in year 1...and we promised to not stash him...Dunn wouldn't have agreed to that.
