It would probably be closer to Harris, Joseph, and a 2nd.

And btw, his on/off numbers are the worst since his rookie year. He’s net-negative. He needs to rebuild his value (to last year) to net a lotto-protected first. I think he’ll play better after the trade deadline, but I just don’t see his trade value.

I’m coming around to offering him a 45/3 extension and seeing if he’ll accept. Continue waiting into the next decade for his game to come around.

It’s interesting we got Tre Jones. Much smaller, but similar caliber guard.

I think you're underrating Coby's value by quite a bit. Yes, Coby was better last season but at 12M, he's underpaid. The Magic are paying Cole Anthony the same amount.

Cheap and affordable talent is valuable.

If that's the case then the Bulls are better off keeping him.

And Anthony gives them roughly the same inefficient/inconsistent offense, no heady playmaking and mediocre defense. Why do they duplicate that with Coby?

Both guys are paid what they deserve. If Coby earned more, he’d be Pat Williams.

I'd almost do Coby for the 2025 top 10 protected 1st with salary filler. The Magic get a volume shooter on a bargain deal for the next one and a half seasons and we get a possible decent pick. That pick could easily end up 12-15 if the Magic end up a first round exit and I know everyone would be happy to kick off our rebuild with a pick like that.

Same. I’d be good with the ORL ‘25 without any salary coming back.

Personally, I would rather keep Coby White. Josh Giddey is the guy I would be trying to move. I would trade Giddey straight up for the Nuggets 2025 1st.

Nah Coby needs to go. Giddey is going be better. Coby is literally useless if he isn’t scoring and he is way too streaky.

He will be overpaid in one more season. I think we should move him this off-season at the latest.

Coby: 18ppg on 58.3% TS

Cole Anthony: 8.7ppg on 51.4% TS

These two aren't comparable right now. Coby is undeniably better and has a big advantage in efficiency. Coby isn't inefficient either, he's at league average currently and has hovered around league-average efficiency for the last 4 seasons.

Being inconsistent on offense comes with the 12M price tag. Better more consistent players have larger salaries and are harder to get.

That’s where I’m at. I’d trade both Coby and Giddey rather than investing big $$ in either. I don’t see a single player on the roster worth keeping other than Matas or possibly Ayo unless he’s looking for big money. Overpaying middling young talent like Pat is the best way to ruin a rebuild.

At this stage, I would trade Coby for Harris and 1st rounder.. but for just 2nd rounder, no! Not worth it..

Then just waive Harris.. I dont want to see Bulls paying for any of these kids (White, Giddey, Ayo) more than PWill got.. and if trade offers are on table, trade both White and Giddey, I would just keep Ayo! I prefer smart two way players.. White is just offensive jugglehead and Giddey is very streaky shooter with very bad D

Why does it have to be just the Magic? Also isn't there a trade thread for this?

This is just wrong, Cole Anthony is the kind of player teams will ignore at the 3 point line to hedge their coverage towards Franz and Paolo.

Coby is a shooter that teams can't do that against.

If they (or frankly anybody) want Coby, conversation HAS to start with a 1st round pick. Work backwards from there. Apparently there are weird swap rights with their 2026 pick. So I'd take either this years pick or 27. I'm not sure their cap situation, so Idk if we'd have to take 2 coming back. Prolly wouldnt get the pick asking for one of their soph or rookies. Maybe Gary Harris and one of the youngins that hasnt really shown much for them?

EDIT: oh man I forgot about cole anthony, it would prolly be Anthony and a 1st.

I'm a bit higher in Coby than most. I wouldn't trade him for anything short of a better fitting player-prospect or a guaranteed lottery pick in this summer's draft. I have zero interest in a late first for him or dumping him for the sole purpose of tanking. I'm definitely not sold on him long term yet, so I understand the risk of letting him walk in summer 2026, but I'm OK with that. It's overwhelmingly likely that a late first won't yield anything more than a 4 year contract for a marginal NBA player.

I wonder how the Lonzo extension impacts a Coby trade? On the one hand, we have a PG under contract now (and probably expect to keep Giddey and Ayo and maybe Huerter). On the other hand, we need both first and second option scorers going forward, and Coby (best case) could become a viable 2nd option scorer, but I think we'd hope to do better.

If nobody will give something actually good for Coby now, then I don't think we need to worry too much about him being super expensive to re-sign (if we want to) in summer 2026.

Teams will overpay in free agency. They will not trade to overpay in a year and give you something.

Free agency is just cash and you keep your assets.
