There is a reason not many teams seem to be interested in him. He is just a flat out negative NBA player his whole career. Maybe we can cover him better with Suggs and co and he becomes valuable but the chances are pretty high too, that his Acquisition ends up like like many of those onedimensional/flawed scroring guards before. LaVine, Schröder, Beal, DeRozan, Green, Russell, Murray, RJ... all those guys doesnt made there (new) teams better for a reason. Empty stats Ivey being hurt and defensive monster Thompson in is one of the reasons for Detroit becoming a winning team.
In Theory Simons helps us because he can do things we miss but stats dont lie, even more over such a large time. There is a good chancec in 2 years he is gone again because he isnt a winning player.

My biggest hope is that we're such a super oddly constructed team, that he might look a lot better with us than with anybody else, because the things we're bad at, we're so bad at that even a super flawed guy like him could have a bigger impact than with any other team in the league.

But if we add a defensive liability guard i would give up much more for Reaves than Simons as example.

many teams throughout the years were able to take bad defensively guards and cover for them and make them productive.

Bulls fan here. What makes Simons more attractive than Coby White? Coby is younger, taller, and cheaper with similar productivity.

the price it would take to get him. I think Chicago would ask for more than Portland would.

While I like that White has more size and is younger, I think the appeal of Simons is that his offensive bag seems more complete and has been tested on high usage/volume of shots. His ast% has been better than White as well. It seems like with Simons it'd be better offense and worse defense than White.

With White instead of Simons we'd get more size and less of a minus defender, but not as much of a reliable offensive generator which is more of what we obviously lack at the moment. Though I will say that this recent stretch of games Cole Anthony is looking more like we need him to.

1) Don't fall for Cole Anthony...that's like a girl who keeps going back to an abusive boyfriend because he said sorry

2) Simons is a FREAK athlete (so is Sexton)...Coby White is a hair under 6'5 in shoes with a 6'5 wingspan. Simons is just under 6'4 with a 6'9" wingspan :o . Not saying Coby isn't a good choice too, but not for reasons of size or athleticism.

one of sexton simons white and I feel a bit better about the FO.. anything outside of those 3 would be a TBD and likely a wet fart

is it though? White actually more FT attempts than Simons. Simons seems more solely outside shooter lately.

White's FTA is 0.7 per game higher and his FT rate is higher, true point taken.

However, Simons still takes more 2 pt FGs per game and significantly less of his 2 pt and 3 pt FGs are assisted than White. These stats indicate to me he's more of someone who can reliably create his own offense than White (who I think can do so to an extent as well).

think Simons can do more than what is shown at Portland due to Scoot & Shaedon seeing a ton of on ball minutes.

Higher quality assets needed for Coby for the reasons you mentioned.

Also, Simons is a local kid from Orlando so people here like him for that reason.

Not that I've seen, maybe that means he's the guy.

I don't see how his salary works unless Isaac or Caldwell-Pope go out though so maybe that is the real reason why.
