Hell yea!!!

DAmn nice.

Panda was close, same kind of player like J.Carter..we did ok here, maybe he's better then the stats, haven't watched him much.

I would have said Mitchell but thought they changed course after the Anderson deal fell through. Cost us a 2nd but worth it shaving 5 more million and getting a POA PG.

Everyone has seen what Dru Smith has brought to our team and there's no reason Davion can't have that impact. He is still 26 years old.

Jalen Johnson is out for the year, they’re about to trade Hunter and they’re trying to trade Capela and Bogdanovic. Wondering what it would take to get Trae at this point who expires in 2026. Tank commander Terry, Duncan, Jaime, and a 1st for Trae and Matthews?

Trae/Mitchell
Herro/Burks
Wiggins/Highsmith
Bam/Jovic
Ware/Jovic

So Jimmy got the money he wanted, and now gets to play with Curry. Its really hard to spin that as a loss for him.

We got Wiggins who salary goes into 2026 and PJ Tucker. Wiggins is not bad. The pick wont be high value, and those thinking magically two mid picks this year can get you a lottery pick are straight up delusional. The most important thing is getting under the tax, thats something that will be a Win for Mickey pocket.

Honestly this whole mess could have easily been avoided by trading him earlier.

*reports come out team wants to preserve 2026 cap*
Flash: why would we do that, thats stupid?!

*team takes back Wiggins who cuts in to 2026 cap*
Flash: why would we do that, thats stupid?!

Look, if its not one thing its another. Had we traded Jimmy earlier you would have just found a way to complain about the return, because thats your schtick. We got a serviceable player at a position of need and a moveable contract, and what projects to be a pick in the mid teens. Considering our recent draft history, I will take those odds.

The whole point of not wanting to pay him was 2026 cap space. So then we go out and do the complete opposite and get a contract that goes into 2026?

Flexibility for the 2026 offseason where the contracts that are currently hindering proper roster construction expire. $30M for a quality starting wing that is turning 30 and will be an expiring as soon as the summer of 2026 is not the same thing as taking on $50M+ contracts that are either untradable due to being so bloated or due to actual no trade clauses. Wiggins is a movable contract. He'll be making ~17% of the projected 2027 salary cap as an expiring.

It doesn't have to be more complicated than that unless you're just looking for things to be outraged about.

I love it. Heat retooling. Getting back to defensive identity. Winning teams need quality depth.

If Mitchell can just be a great POA defender, have a good A/TO ratio (he's very good there historically) and hit open 3's - that a very important player to inject into our roster.

Just what the doctor ordered.

My question was answered.
"Are Heat going to role with only Herro and Rozier as primary ball handlers rest of the year?"

Nope. I remember Mitchell from Baylor, but haven't followed him in NBA. Going in to draft he was considered the best defensive PG in the draft class.
https://nbadraftroom.com/davion-mitchell/

All in all Heat did pretty well with the limitations/demands from Butler. Roster is more balanced. Herro will be the engine that drives the offense. It's not enough to compete with elite teams unless somehow Herro, Bam, Wiggins, or even Ware show us something we haven't seen yet. But, there's a solid rotation with Herro, Bam, Wiggins, Ware, Jovic, Robinson, Mitchell, Jacquez, and Larson.

I hope we get rid of Rozier. I do not ever want to see a 3 guard line-up again, but with Terry on the roster I'm afraid Spo is going to roll with Davion, Rozier, and Herro at times.

They’ll make minutes for Mitchell. Herro, Robinson, Rozier, and Mitchell can be rotated. Rozier becomes like a backup 2 and Mitchell the backup PG.

PJ is going to fill the role of seasoned, tough veteran who can teach the youngsters and eventually become an assistant coach

So what the heck are we doing with Kevin Love then?

I guess this is no longer pertinent.

Kind of player a quality team would have as a 3rd guard off the bench for defensive juice. Gabe Vincent/Dru Smith mold in that sense.

Funny enough--he's younger than Dru Smith

Should we be concerned that Mitchell's nickname is "Off-Night"?

I'm thrilled with the Mitchell trade! Makes so much more sense from a player perspective. He's young and a dawg, defensively! Spo is going to love him!

Pg: Herro / Mitchell
Sg: Robinson / Rozier / Burks / Larsson
Sf: Wiggins / Jacquez / Highsmith
Pf: Bam / Jovic / Anderson / Johnson
C: Ware / Love
