Oh so his skillset will be completely different in 2 years?

What other elements is he going to be adding to his game?
Shooting and better playmaking.

I appreciate your exceedingly high optimism

if AB is starting in year 4, it means we've wasted cap space and made minimal roster moves for Gary Harris type players again. Definitions of insanity
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Our biased broadcast team even said last night “AB is better suited off the bench because when he plays with Paolo and Franz he’s relegated to standing in the corner”

People act like skillsets aren’t a thing and that players aren’t drafted with this in mind. Yes, there is this magical “potential” that precedes most other things.

If you watch 7 games where a player just disappears in a specific lineup, and 1 game where he is no longer in that specific lineup and starts appearing, you can start drawing some conclusions.

You would obviously do this with other teams when you aren’t wearing blue tinted glasses.

It's exceedingly high optimism to expect a young player to get better?

He shot 39% from three last season and is assisting +20% of his teammates field goals when he's on the court this season. He's shown a better shooting foundation than many expected, and better than most of his archetypal peers have shown, and his playmaking is developing nicely.

He's also a bit of an ironman and really good at getting to the line, and very advanced on defense already.

I don't think it's high optimism I think it's realistic expectations.

Zach with a horrible line and all starters at negative +/- over 20!

Fun to be the spoiler...hopefully a momentum builder. Tonight would be a spectacular win and not implausible if all cylinders are firing. Would love the added enthusiasm of knowing help is on the way (as soon as new scoring guard clears physical).

AB off the bench is just a better role for him right now. At least last night, he took more of an Moe Wagner type offensive stateline it seems.

The question for AB remains, can he develop a good enough jump shot to coexist with Paolo + Franz + Suggs? If he can, then yes, he is one of the pieces we need. If he can't, well something something wasted opportunity. At least we aren't debating Fultz CLEARLY OBVIOUS IN HINDSIGHT HE DIDN'T BELONG IN THE NBA stat lines.
