That Booker trade is the worst trade i have ever seen in my life...in any capacity. Both on NBA forums and in NFL forums as well. Worst in my life...and I'm over 40 years old.
Worst.
Sooooo congratulations by you I guess.....
Yeah, it looks bad it looks on paper for that singular trade (and BTW, I did mention we should get some picks back...I just didn't specify them, is all), but when combined with the Durant trade, it would still leave us with some flexibility toward the future, with still having plenty of offense, and oh...some size and rebounding, as well, so...and still leaves us with
Jones (back to playing pg the way he was meant to play it)
Beal (21ppg)
Mathurin (16ppg)
Siakam (20ppg/7reb)
Turner (15ppg/7reb)
and still having the threat of Allen with some scoring from 3, and Royce/Toppin coming in relief, and some development ahead for Mathurin, Jarace Walker, Dunn, and Oso...
So yeah, if you look at that trade in a vacuum, it looks bad, but again, your not looking at the accompanying trade, which gets us back to having our oldest players being Beal and Royce (after dumping Lee) at 31YO, some actual draft picks in the future, and some decent talent to develop already on the roster. And oh yeah, having all of of eggs in the basket of whether BOTH Booker and Durant have a decent game, deciding whether we win or not.
Pacers don't have any 1sts they can trade till 2027. Only seconds. So that's done.
You traded Booker for 3 PFs and 2Cs so none of them can play together at the same time. Then turned around and traded Durant for Siakam. You didn't even manage to get Haliburton for either!! Lol what a disaster.
Forget the fact that we essentially traded rosters with the Pacers-who are barely 4 seeds in the weaker East. You also didn't make them take Nurk who is our worst contract.
Congrats again. If we did this then Dallas and their GM is off the hook for the Luka trade. This would be an even worst monstrosity.
We can only trade 1 player per trade...there aren't enough Pacer players to conduct 3 trades. This would assume a separate trade with a different team to dump Nurkic. The point of this post, was to how to drop Booker and Durant, while bringing in young talent at positions we are consistently bereft in.
And yeah, sure, I could have offered Booker for Haliburton, and another player, but that's not likely a move they would make. But if we want to live in 'pretend world', then sure, let's switch the Booker trade to Haliburton and Jarace Walker. There you go...fixed...
But back to the original trade I listed, we'd dump Jackson, and Jarace is a hybrid 3/4, so it's a bit different than what you are portraying of that trade.
We didn't trade rosters; we traded 2 players for, essentially, 6 of theirs...but yes, we did trade to a team with a solid roster, built both for today, and the future. Funny how you discount the #4 team in the East, like we are some 'amazing' team, struggling at .500 fighting for maybe, a play-in. A team with a supposed 'Big 3'...we sure do look good on paper...woohoo!!
