I love this for Cleveland. I don't know what the Hawks are doing.

Cavs getting Hunter for a bunch of nothing? Sneakily great move from them. He's a perfect fit next to their big 4 and should let them run some small ball lineups with him and Mobley at the 4/5

Agree

Of all the players traded today, Hunter is the one mostly likely to make a difference to a team in the Conference Finals

Hunter's never really lived up to my hopes for him, but as the 5th guy with this Cavs squad is as good of chance as he'll get.

Pure salary dump. Ressler is one of the most stingy owners in the league. Always looking at ways to cut salary if possible.

Hunter indeed improved his value from last year, but not enough to warrant unprotected 1st, good deal for the Cavs, for the Hawks, they solde too cheap when they needed the player after JJ injury, but looks like they valued cap space next year more.

Win for the Cavs and the Spurs (has ATL first).

Hunter has always been a good player. Just always hurt and recovering from being hurt. CLE hopes he stays healthy. ATL moves on form the former #4 pick. Now, they just need to move Bogdanovic.

Good for Cavs, I know Levert has changed his game over the years but I still could've seen him holding the ball too much and putting up bad shots in key conference finals spot or something.

ATL going forward:
(edited to reflect Zeller trade)

Starters
Pg - Trae $45.9, $49 PO
Sg - DDaniels $7.7, $10.4 QO
Sf - Risacher $13, $14, $17, $24
Pf - JJo $30, $30 $30, $30
C - Onk $15, $16, $16
Backups -
Niang $8
Bufkin $4.5, $6.9 TO, $10 QO
Krejci $2.4 (only $1.5 GRTY), $2.6 (not GRTY), $3 TO
Gueye $2.2TO, $2.4TO
2025 LAL first
2025 SAC first

Looks like a salary cap stable roster. Should be a playoff team in the East and eliminated in the first round.

This is excellent for the cavs, which is very disappointing to a pacer fan.

I don’t mind it for the Hawks, Hunter has been disappointing until this year so they’re selling high. Moving him and Bogie opens up some space.

At this price why not . Good addition to the Cavs.

Do we know the swaps?

Hard to not love this for Cleveland. Atlanta got ahead of tax issues in this trade. And they have their starting forwards long term...

Hawks had to punt after JJ was out. Hunter is hated by the refs. Cavs will see what I mean, he gets no respect with fouls.

He's basically above par shooting and on ball defense. Everywhere else he's below par. He's the 4th option out there, I'll keep up to see how well he fits in that role.

I wasn't wowed by the LeVert/Niang package originally when I saw it in the trade thread mostly because I really thought we'd have to sweeten the deal with Tyson or the 2031 first. According to Windhorst, the swaps are 2026 and 2028 (the same picks already swapped with Utah). I am pretty happy with this trade. This takes Niang's minutes and gives them to Hunter + some from Merrill and Okoro (I assume). This also extends Jerome to a real 6th man and he will play a lot more minutes (I assume).

I am curious if they go with Hunter as the starter. I am also curious to see Hunter in our offensive and defensive system. I do not necessarily trust him as that extra passer, but if they can get him comfortable for the playoffs I am down.

I assume we are going to be a little less dangerous in the RS with a little less depth, but a lot more built for the PS. I expect CPJ and/or Tyson to get some real RS minutes the rest of the way (especially with Wade/Okoro out).

According to Windhorst, 2026 and 2028. These are the same picks swapped with the Jazz. I have to assume Cavs will be better than both teams until 2028 barring craziness

Its a pretty small package for Cleveland. You can talk about how LeVert versus Hunter is an actual debate, but we were going to need to decide on Jerome vs LeVert this off-season most likely and with Hunter he's on a longer deal so its set in stone. This also gets us under the luxury cap so we have chances at more buyout guys and more leverage in the off-season.

And Hunter is just better than Niang and will take all his minutes and some.
