AK has never developed a Plan B. He had a Plan A that was actually pretty good and probably got him hired: Ball/Lavine/Demar/Vuc. But once Ball got hurt, he had no Plan B and still doesn’t have one. He’s just paralyzed and so are the Bulls.

So, please tell me a member of our beloved and esteemed Chicago Bulls Press Corps held his feet to the fire and asked him to cite an example of this ‘9-10 good player’ model?

This was a tough one. Also in general a Very weird trade deadline.

Mark Williams going for Knecht and a future 1st blows my mind. That guy barely plays. Is always injured.

I really wanted to move Vuc, I almost would have held out on trading Zach until we had a deal for Vuc. In the end, I suppose I don't really have insight into who was harder to move.

I will say, the most comparable player to Vuc (contract wise, position-wise, skill-wise, etc.) moved at the deadline was Nurkic. And it costs the Suns and future 1st to move him.

Everyone here assumes there was an offer of expiring and 2nds on the table for Vuc from Atlanta or Golden State. We'll never know if that was true. We also don't know if Atlanta's plans changed after Johson's injury.

K.C. said 7 teams inquired about Coby White. I'm much more confused while he's still here. Vuc still being here is kind of understandable, most of us dislike Vuc and think he sucks - you think other front offices don't know this?

Unsure what happened with Coby - it seems AK was opposed to taking on any long-term money based on some of KC's other comments.

Watched some of the CHSN trade deadline show and they were parroting a lot of what I see here - "there's too many guards". I still say Giddey is 6'8" and is a great rebounder, he can play forward. He's up to 34% on 3's for the year (shot 36% in January and 44% so far in February).

We've got to find more minutes for Smith. I don't really care about Vuc's trade value (evidently very poor) or his preferences anymore. If he's upset about a reduced role, feel free to accept a buyout big fella.

In the end it was, what I view to be a bad Zach trade. Not that I think there's was a better trade out there, but moreso I think I would have preferred to simply have kept Zach.

Great Lonzo extension.

Still have to watch Vuc which hurts my eyes and heart.

Surprised Coby is still here - very curious if we'll get any leaks beyond "7 teams inquired about Coby"

If we play the young guys and they make the play-in or playoffs. So be it.

Basically for free too. Someone here made a good point that S.A. compensated us with our pick back for taking on their junk. Sacramento got Lavine from us for free

Not for free, we gave them back their 2028 2nd round pick from the Derozan trade 6 months ago.

We didn't give back the 2nd round pick as part of that trade, that pick wasn't ours to give, the Spurs held the rights to that pick.

And? The most important player, by a mile, for the Bulls to move this year was Lavine and then they did it at the trade deadline. And you start a thread staying the team stood pat. Doesn't compute, but whatever.

AFTER Sunday, we were told "they're far from done". And turns out that was a lie.

Another half assed non-lane picking deadline. Made zero sense to trade Zach but not Vuc. But hey we're still play-in bound ! Next question is, what B-listers will they bring in with our fresh slate of 1sts to trade away? Paul George ? Julius Randle?

Half joking but half scared of being right lol

In his defense, he can't flat out say they are trying to lose.

I still don't understand why he feels like he's earned the right to treat the media and public like he's Bill Belichek.

Where are those 9-10 very good players? If anything he has shown us how delusional he is with his play-in sh** sándwich we get fed year after year. It's time to check out for the season. These vomit inducing pressers lack substance and accountability while driving us over the cliff. I'm done.

What. A. Joke.

AK is so unaware he doesn’t even see how incompetent he is. Cowley destroyed him and his fake plan.

He literally is hoping we win a bunch of games and makes the play in while saying we don’t want to be in the middle.

What the hell? Is that a real quote? Sure that's satire.

It's a real quote. Brace yourself.

What the ****? As low as an opinion as I have of the man I'd come to believe it might not be possible for him to outdo some of his prior idiotic comments. I mean, during one of his other disastrous post-trade deadline press conferences at which we should have been selling the entire core of the team at their highest value, he lamented that there were "too many buyers." That's a high bar to clear.

But by god I think he may have done it. A championship model of "9-10 very good players" is a peach of an idea. If you also have a Delorean, a Flux Capacitor, 1.21 gigiwatts of power, and your timer set to Detroit, 2004. Otherwise no.

How can this guy say things publicly like this and keep his job? Its hard to believe this is real life sometimes, he's so bad.

Such a bad, bad, bad, bad, bad GM.

Let this be (another) lesson....just because someone is a GM, does not mean their decision making is automatically better than some random fans.

9-10 good players? WTF? The closest team to win like that would have been the Pistons....and they had a DPOY and multiple All-Stars.

Coby is probably one of the "9-10 very good players" that AK is talking about.

Coby with a new contract won't be as valuable IMO. I agree that they should've traded him if a decent deal was there.

Only 7 players were on the team last year. Over 50% of our roster is different than last year.

But sure, we've done nothing.

True, we didn't stand pat so the title of this thread is not appropriate. A more accurate title should be, AKME is happy to stand pat right in the middle of nowhere.

And yet we are no better or worse off. Is that FRP pick going to be better than Lavine, if we were to have held on to him? Not to mention what more we could have gotten for him if we did.

Looking at it big picture, we did indeed stand pat.
