They trade Knecht and a future first. What were we willing to give up for him? I'm not really disagreeing it's a great trade imo.

The future 1st for sure, not sure what package of players to equate Knecht with. Just frustrating how the Lakers say they want something and within days they pull it off. And for the same type of player we could really use but never seem to land. Good management I guess.

Not saying it was good value, but I like the pairing of Ball-Knecht. Knecht is a 3 level scorer who's not much of a creator and Lamelo is a ball-dominating creator. If nothing else, their fantasy numbers will be real nice when they eventually play together

Frankly we could have used a Knecht or a Mark Williams. Its nice to have assets and even nicer when the team is willing to part with them to solve problems

We'll see if he's actually healthy. Giving up an unprotected first in '31, one of the few decent rookies, and another swap in '30 for an injury plagued center is very risky. I wouldn't have moved an unprotected '31 first for Mark Williams, would you?

The Lakers seem to feel his injury woes are behind him. We'll see. I'd be more worried about injuries to a tubby guy like Zion, MW is in good physical shape, 7'7" wingspan, runs the floor, good handles, defends the paint, attacks the basket. Yes, I would have done it based on needs, his age, etc. (if you fill needs, it adds value), but I don't know what players are of interest. Podz? Even JK(don't slay me for that one.) Maybe none. Another drawback of not having a 1st last year. (and this year). Less trade assets. Pardon my venting, this seems like Nellie all over again, when we played small and passed on Vlade Divac.

Well, i'm glad that at least we did not trade for Vuc

Still need a big, but it seems dont want to have none with them, as usual.

If we traded an actual center like Loon for a hypothetical center like mark williams, I would have been sad to see loon go. If we included a pick swap, I would have been very disappointed. If we ALSO included an UNPROTECTED 2031 FIRST ROUND PICK?

He's played 85 out of a possible 210 games in his career and, this year, his healthiest, he's played in less than half of the 50 games Cha played. Less than half.

Why do folks hate on Loon? he's close to league leading rebounding per 36 or per 100, provides top notch defense, is a great teammate, and is on a great contract. I'd like more shooting, sure but whether it's Vuc or Mark Williams or whomever.. why waste real assets on a player that may not be better than Loon?

Now, if you told me we could snatch chris boucher for what used to be schroder's contract and a 2nd rounder, I'd be all over it.

Loon is perfect......as a backup. His limited offense along with Dray's makes it seem like the Dubs are playing 3 on 5. I like Loon but be honest, he wouldn't start on another team.

If we had somehow gotten Durant over I would’ve been all over Ben Simmons as a buy out signing. With Butler coming over it would be another player that shrinks the court.

He might not start on another team, but there a lot of teams that would love to have him, especially on his cheap contract. They watch him getting all those offensive rebounds and think, geez, we could really use that.

His limited SCORING.

Besides Steph and now Butler, no one else on this team creates space for teammates more than Kevon Looney. His screens have their own gravitational pull

Also he kinda started on a championship team not too long ago. Because he's an excellent defender, rebounder, and screener. 2 of those 3 things directly and forcefully impact offensive efficiency

This is just like the Hield IQ test.. people gripe about him starting yet his presence, his reputation as a shooter helps the others on court. I'd argue that except for Moody's recent run and Melton's cooked corpse, no one has been better as the 4th starter this year, not even close. And thats with Buddy's dogsh*t shooting since December. Warrior fans should know this by now.. were not playing fantasy basketball here

He'd be fine as a starter if you had a PF that was good on offense. So if Dray hit the bench and Jimmy was starting at PF, that'd be fine. But Loon/Dray is too offensively limited at this point, we watched Walker Kessler 2v1 them in crunch time under the hoop. So it's more about who is alongside him than Loon himself.

Which is why if we had traded Dray, the Butler move would have been a home run, even if we had to sweeten the pot. Coulda ran out:

Curry
Hield or Podz
Wiggins
Jimmy
Loon

Definitely a team that fits better and would be stronger.

holding on to green (especially after they "broke" the core3 by letting klay go) is malpractice at this point.
but hey, the GM is the very same one who threw in that extra year with player option in green's contract, so there is nothing good to expect with such a guy running the basketball operations.
