Post deadline roster outlook
1 Giddey 6'8 216 22 1 Love his growth, think he's an obvious re-sign at a reasonable price 15-22M
2 Ball 6'6 190 27 3 He might be my favorite player in the league, I played a great deal of basketball and I am just constantly blown away about how perfect he is. The smartest player on the court every night, he puts the ball in the perfect place constantly. His contract is easy to escape should he get injured.
3 White 6'5 195 24 2 He scores in flashes, he's a fun player to have but I am not sure we should pay him. Depending on the draft we might want to move him to open up minutes.
4 Buzelis 6'10 209 20 5 He's starting to show off. Hopefully he is a lock as a starter even if he's not on the court to close games
5 Vucevic 6'10 260 34 2 Was hoping that Vuc would be moved but nothing made sense. It wasn't for lack of trying apparently.
6 Jones 6'1 185 25 1 I had assumed he would be moved or was an obvious guy to leave after the season, but KC said there are thoughts that he could be brought back. He might get the most minutes to see if he's a fit.
7 Dosunmo 6'5 200 25 2 KC reported that others around the league believe he was not available in trade and they will look to re-sign him
8 Terry 6'7 195 22 2 Terry was out last game but I'm curious if this deeper bench will hurt his minutes and development
9 Williams 6'7 215 23 5 Williams is playing much better off the bench. He's still 23 so lots of time do develop
10 Smith 6'9 215 24 3 It would have been nice to see if Smith could make it as a starter but he's flashed enough to know he belongs
11 Carter 6'1 200 29 2 It wouldn't surprise me if he's released. It would be a positive to help him land on a contender for the rest of the season. If we aren't going to give him minutes let him go
12 THT 6'4 234 24 I constantly forget THT is only 24 because he looks 34. He is technically part of the youth movement
13 Huerter 6'7 198 26 2 I liked Huerters highlights and was hoping the guard minutes would open up for some PT. Doesn't look like that will be the case
14 Phillips 6'8 198 21 3 Phillips might be hurt the most by the deep bench. He's going to struggle to get enough time to develop.
15 Collins 6'11 200 27 2 Collins was set up for some decent rotational minutes with Vuc possibly gone but now his role remains a question.

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
My post deadline rotation would be:
Ball / Ayo
Coby / Huerter
Giddey / PWill
Matas / Collins
Vuc / Smith
IR: Jones, Carter, Phillips, Dalen, THT
Couple of points to note:
1. While reluctant, we have to give minutes to Collins and Huerter as they are still under contract for one more year. Rather showcase them and see what we can get for them in the offseason.
2. As many guards as we have now, we actually have no excuse to play a 6'5 guy at PF now that we have a frontcourt of Matas-Vuc-Collins-Smith (and potentially PWill). Billy should take note.

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
Sure the roster is important, but I'm just hoping that Billy focuses on the future over the guys who we know (and don't want to watch...aka Vuc, Pat, and Terry). Use the rest of the season to get a sense of what else we got.

Billy is starting 3 guards no matter what.

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
I'm team "if the young guys make the play-in or playoffs - so be it" - An important part of that philosophy however is that you actually play the young guys.
My ideal 10-man rotation
Ball/Jones
Ayo/White
Giddey/Huerter
Matas/Williams
Vuc/Smith
*Vuc and Smith should be playing about equal minutes. Also feel free to rest old man Vuc every once in a while and give Collins some burn.
For better or worse, I'd like to close games with: Giddey/White/Williams/Matas/Smith
I know Ball is our best player, I just want to sink or swim the remainder of this season with these young guys closing games.
Garbage time lineup - Carter/THT/Terry/Phillips/Collins

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
I'm not going to try to pick rotations. I'll just say I want to see lots of combinations of guys we expect to be here next year. Put another way, I want to see Vuc's minutes go down and Smith's minutes go up. I also want to see more of Smith and Vuc playing together.
Other than that I'm just looking forward to seeing the dynamics and how individual guys respond to those opportunities.

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
I see them going back to 4 guards. But the rotation starts bringing in the bench after 5 minutes so it' not a 5 for 5 switch. Lonzo will sit the second of back to backs, anybody with even a minor injury can sit out a game or two so others get minutes.
Ayo Huerter THT
Ball Jones
Vucevic Smith
Giddey Williams
White Buzelis Phillips
I'm seeing Carter and Collins maybe Terry nailed to the bench

Love the idea of Collins allowing them to play SMith and Vuc together. I hadn't considered that.

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
If I was Billy I'd start
Giddey / Ball / Jones
Coby / Ayo
PWill / Huerter / Terry
Matas / Smith
Vuc / Smith / Colin's.
THT and Phillips are out the rotation for me. I'd like to see the Bulls play big more and I've been happy with the Matas/Pwill minutes. Giving Smith a few spot minutes at 4, especially with Collins, makes sense to me. He should be able to guard 4s.
Mostly I want Billy to play bigger and end all 4 guard lineups or Giddey at the 4.

I don't think Carter will be waived because they might want to use his contract as an expiring in a trade next year.

Oh ho ho, that's funny...
He'll be playing C.
Because, Billy.

Will Collins play over Smith?
Will Huerter play over Terry or Phillips?
Who will Jones play over?
I'm curious what you think Billy will do.

Collins is bad, mediocre at best. But at least he hustles. He better not be eating Jalen Smith's minutes.. well actually since we should be tanking he will need minutes.
Huerter has been bad for 2 years. After the first Beam Team year he fell off a cliff and has been some combination of hurt or benched. Maybe he can get his shot back with Peter Patton?
Tre Jones is a servicable backup PG but we also have like 8 PGs on the team. I think he is stuck on the bench until we get blown out and Billy starts reaching for something new.
I AM A BUSINESS MAN NOW

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
Damn that original post was hard to read, I gave up.
So positionally, this is where the team is at now:
Ayo/Ball/Jones/Carter
White/Huerter/THT
Giddey/Terry/Phillips
Williams/Buzelis
Vuc/Smith/Collins
I've reluctantly put Giddey as a forward despite him being a PG.
Bulls still have WAY too many guards. Tre Jones should probably be waived/bought out, IMO, I don't think he'll get many minutes and there's talk of him coming back next season, too...

Re: Post deadline roster outlook
Just a mess of a roster, we took another team cast offs and just going to do nothing with these guys, but allow them to stunt our home grown talent development. This is why if we had a legit GM they would know how to avoid this issue of having all of these guards and not enough mins to go around. And best believe Billy will play the vets and try his best to win games and f up our draft slot. Like this is horse you know what, whats going on in Chicago rn.
