Re: Our front office looks weak
GREAT THREAD
Seriously though, doing what looks like a bunch of negotiating only to have Durant "not want to come here" is not weak . . . it's inept.
Two things are happening here, IMO. 1 - Warriors have a stink on them called Draymond Green. No one, IMO, wants to play with this jerk. He IS a jerk and WAS the reason Durant left in the first place. 2 - Dunleavy looks like the rookie GM he is. I would love to be wrong about him but he wreaks of dudes that folks laugh behind their backs.

I think we should let the rest of the season play out before we judge this move. If things don’t work out we can send dray home to Detroit and butler to the highest bidder this offseason.

If the season doesn't go well, Jimmy is basically Beal. It wouldn't be worth it to attach picks to get out of his contract, especially since the future pick we dealt for him could be unprotected in 2027. It would be the dlo deal all over again except we'd be on the wrong end this time. Only reason he agreed to come here is money..only money.
The front office needs another deal, they badly need a poa 3 and d perimeter player or a stretch 5. They can't let the day finish without one.

Please for the love of the warriors go get a poa 3 and d player.

I give it a full season before the honeymoon is over. Can't wait to see what happens when Dray and Butler get into it.

I wonder if Butlers agent got some good quotes for leverage.

Re: Our front office looks weak
Haven’t watched GS at all this season so I’m unable to diagnose the reasons behind the shortcomings of the team, but I suspect that Jimmy will inject a revitalized energy and it will result in a surge in the second half of the year.
I buy into the notion that unselfish high IQ players playing with fellow unselfish IQ players will result in consistent success.

Re: Our front office looks weak
It’s been weak for some time. They don’t have the knowledge and experience to make the right decisions. Very reactionary. First was two timelines now it’s the old folks home. Butler is old, does not fit Kerr’s system, and likely to cause trouble at any time. He’s talented but so was Schroeder on another team. Kerr’s system is based on threes and Butler is not a three point shooter. I have a feeling they don’t know what they are doing.
Lacob needs to get back to what brought success which was recruiting the most talented front office and coaching at the time. Dunleavy is an in house hire, he’s not the best. His record is just some mediocre picks. His trades are mediocre. That’s not going to help the Warriors. If things continue as they are, the Warriors will flatline with the aging players. The only bright spot is JK who shows any signs of life among the younger prospects.

Our front office is excellent, but caught in an awkward franchise timeframe.

Re: Our front office looks weak
They appear incompetent, but it's also the most painful part of the path they have chosen some years ago. That path seems to be that they want to milk the waning qualities and popularity of the aging core some more to fill enough seats in the arena.
To stay relevant enough (and that is hanging from a thin thread) they have increased the frequency now at which they trade (luckily so far) quite minor future assets for this typical type of "mercenary style" vet that usually doesn't fit the system. At this rate, the pieces are falling of pretty fast. Let's see if they can go 2 more years like this without completely imploding before (one major injury will suffice).

Light years baby.
Signing Jimmy Butler is a bridge to signing Durant on ANOTHER big name. Draymond and an extended Kuminga will be shipped out to make it work.
I predict Warriors start next season with either Curry, Butler and Durant or Giannis.
