Are we the worst team at layup conversion? Or best at botched fast breaks?

If that's the definition of double big not working, sign me up for more. Obviously doesn't work EVERY TIME, but people just be saying things.

Meanwhile the single big Porzingis lineups are still in the negative (-1.6) with ample sample size (934 possessions).

Also, Max Christie is going to be a very nice player. Love that guy. Can we trade Hauser for him?

Layups, not really. Could be recency bias talking. And pretty sure Warriors win that honor by a mile. VERY MUCH YES with the latter (even if I haven't seen every single NBA game).

Yup!

Jaylen Brown fits that description.

That's why he didn't get a shoe deal.

This team is unlikable because they have that carefree vibe.

But you can't question their character and work ethic.

The guys we have are true professionals.

So give JT the night off. Put Scheierman in for 16 minutes. Call jD up and let him run pick and roll with Queta… use the trap game as an opportunity to throw your change up or curveball. Run a full court trap after makes with a Walsh/Peterson line up… so many ways to anticipate a trap game and come up with a new wrinkle

Keep your eyes on the prize — early February is too soon for “season wrap-up” assessments.

If a flag goes in the rafters with 2025 on it, we’ll all be pretty happy. And Jrue would probably have done quite a bit to help get it there.

We’ll see — got to let it play out.

The fast break will be botched if guys like PP and Sam are running on the break.

Both those guys just have no above the rim capabilities.

That's why I wanted a finisher at the rim at the trade deadline.

Would have been totally fine - excited, even - to see this.

But that aside, I think there are plenty more defensive duds to come this year that, like tonight, don't reflect what this team will play like in the spring.

Porzingis feels too soft to play on his own at times.

For his size he is ridiculously weak.

When his jumper isn’t going it is seriously ugly watching him post up a guard and be unable to move them and end up with him shooting a flat jumper over them.

Jays botch plenty. It’s more the ball handlers fault than the finisher on most of them, imo. Though sometimes it’s the fault of a guy who should be a finisher who overpasses.

I remember games like this and wonder WTF goes through his head sometimes.

That game is against one of the teams that troubled us most over the last few years defensively and he got to his spots with ease.

It’s like he forgets how big and strong he is.

Like why am I watching him unable to bully Kyrie on switches?

He was having trouble bullying Darius garland of all players the other night.

Just don’t know what’s going on with his all around game. He used to make scoring look easy. Now he’s just inefficient and can hardly score 25 game to game the past month and a half.

The fact that JT can probably crack maybe 40 once a season kind of says his lack of explosiveness these days. I remember he was dropping multiple 40’s a month 2 years ago.

Look at what sga is doing. Other guys who are above him or on a similar level are playing at a higher level. Stars gotta lead and he should rightfully be criticized for not playing like one for a long time now.

My definition of botched is the fast break got halted.

The Jays miss layups on fast breaks, true!

But what I'm referring is PP is leading the break and Sam is on the wing only to abort the attack because they can't jump over or go through the lone defender in front of them.

Cs have a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 fast break and they end up pulling the ball back out.

That should be a score.

Fierce so locked in on Sam not dunking in transition. Are we like 6pts behind on the season because of this?

Pritchard finished I think two transition layups tonight. Not EXPLOSIVELY but the scoreboard doesn’t care

It's missed opportunities.

That adds up in the playoffs.

If the shooting is cold, we need every point we can get.

Cs need to capitalize on steals and turnovers by converting those mistakes into points on fast breaks.

I think it’s his decision making more than anything.

It’s like he’s content with just jacking jumpers and relying on them falling.

Agreed, but Im saying jays do their share of crap passes and poor spacing too. I wasn’t referring to only missed layups with them.
