People like to talk about the NBA, not watch it.

I don’t get the point of this. No one is talking about the SuperBowl because there is a 2 week break. Over 100 million people are going to watch it as usual on Sunday.

The NBA did dominate the headlines this week (trading a top 5 player for no reason to the 2nd biggest market in the US can do that) but it’s not stealing the NFL’s place in the sports landscape anytime soon. Not in the US.

The NFL is another WWE league, but unlike the NBA, at least they don't prop up specific markets. They'll rig games for their star player, but they won't try to force players into bigger markets. Mahomes plays in some random small town in the Midwest. Silver wouldn't rest until Mahomes was traded to a big market team while Goodell knows how to market his stars regardless of where they play.

Kansas City is a random small town in the midwest now?

Also yeah I can totally see why a league would manipulate things to get a star player to get to the #2 market in the country from... The #4 market in the country

The NFL is trying to get back into the headlines by announcing the first regular season match to be held in Australia. I think they’ll be just fine.

Go the Eagles!!

Except nobody watches the NBA. SB will have more viewers than the following 5 days of NBA, all games, COMBINED.

People are brainwashed into thinking it’s something they “have to do”. 20% of the people probably just watch it for the commercials anyways. Not exactly a triumph for their product.

It has something to do with the Bucks getting Kyle Kuzma, I guess?

One thing I know for sure is the NBA is more popular (Worldwide) than the NFL, even their athletes. The only insecure fans are probably the Americans, not the whole NBA fans.

This is correct, but for Americans only. Much the same way that international fans does not know (nor CARE) about American Football.

I have never watched a football game in my entire life, but this year I'll boycott it because of that annoying blonde singer.

Love the SB itself. All the hype for 2 weeks leading up to it, couldn’t care less.

Hmm? For a product that wants to make money, I would argue that if people are watching for the commercials that's the highest triumph they can hope for.
