I never really paid any attention to him before, but his highlights make him look like an excellent pick up. Admittedly, highlights and all, but having seen these, he does look significantly better than Oshae. Not getting ahead of my skis, because he's 34, and was just waived, but I like the addition, and it was at the exact position that we needed the most. Brad is very good at what he does.

It's a golden opportunity for Craig.

If that 40% shooting from 3 is legit, this will be one of Brad's stroke of genius.

Yeah, he had an interesting path.

-Played 4 yrs of college ball at a small D-I school (USC Upstate)
-Undrafted at age 23
-Played 3 seasons in the Australia league
-Gets a 2-way contract in the NBA at age 26
-Plays G league for a bit, then around age 27 gets NBA minutes and has been in the NBA ever since - been a solid rotation player for the past 7 or so years, has contributed on some very good teams

With that type of path, you've gotta really stick with it, grind and have some resilience. Just keep working and chasing your dream. Pretty cool.

Kind of similar path to guys like Theis, PJ Tucker, Royce O'Neal, Duop Reath, Simone Fontecchio, Tiago Splitter, etc. . Then there's also some guys who start out in NBA at a young age, it doesn't work out, they go to overseas, work on their game, get better and then come back to NBA and do well (Yabusele, Dante Exum, etc.)

Some posters on here used to give me a hard time for posting about random, under the radar 24-28 yr old guys playing overseas but there's been some hidden gems over the years..
1/11/24 The birth of a new Hal. From now on being less combative, avoiding confrontation - like Switzerland :)

I spent 20+ minutes looking for an incredible play I remembered Torrey Craig making when he was on the Suns a while back and finally found it and it was actually Josh Okogie.
Gonna miss KP but he's no Georges Niang.

He will be better than him defensively at least. I am talking about this current version of Hauser. He has been a sieve.

I think this is a really solid add, of course recognizing the scale of move it is. Ultimately it's likely to end up mostly irrelevant and inconsequential but they had to sign someone and I think he's a great fit.

It's nice to have a non-developmental option for 10th spot. I think he'll be helpful to soak minutes. Gives us even more freedom to let Jrue and Hauser fully rest/heal up. Depending on how those minutes go, we'll see if he gets playoff run or not. But it's always nice to have an extra button to push in those couple playoff games where the main guys don't have it.

Could be an insurance policy if Sam misses any time.

Think we also need to get JB and JT at least a little rest down the stretch -- and he's also insurance in case e.g. one of them gets in foul trouble or god forbid tweaks an ankle in the playoffs

Perfect world: Walsh has earned confidence for those minutes, but it hasn't happened, and Walsh + Peterson + Scheierman are a lot of 'wings you don't really want to play.'

I'm all for lowering JT and JB's minutes, but that hasn't really happened. Could be because of Sam's injury and the lack in confidence for the other role guys.

IMO, if Walsh was given legit 7-10 minutes EACH game and not garbage minutes I definitely think he would be an established role player right now and not a once a week guy at this point. When he enters the game I hold all judgement back because he's being thrown in without any consistency.

Craig's signing was meant to be. His AAU team was the Carolina Celtics. LOL

Seriously though, he has shown a good 3-point shot over the last few years. He has good defensive instincts and seems like a high BBIQ player. He has a good bit of playoff experience, and even though he has certainly lost a step or two, looking at his highlights, he still seems to have a decent motor. Not bad for a player that only has a $791,818 cap hit, (according to Spotrac) which is a lot better that Springers 4+ mil cap hit.

I would break down the attributes he has that I like, if I thought it mattered. But other than a bad run on injuries, Joe won't even play him. just another player to stifle the development of Walsh/Peterson etc..
