That's kind of a funny way to announce the signing. No exclamation. No excitement. Just "he's a Milwaukee Buck."

The poorly photoshopped jersey is a nice touch, though.

Inconsequential take: I kinda hate the era of immediate bad jersey photoshops when a guy is traded or signs somewhere.

Not that they weren't happy to lower it if possible, but I think they wanted Kuzma, didn't think Khris had the juice to make it to June, and tried to open a 36-hour window where they could make more happen.

Off the top of my head, the only clear finance over competition move that I can remember them making (of any significance at least) was not bringing back PJ. Granted that one might have cost us another title.

This makes the move even less defensible.

we traded a guy who may have given us a better chance of winning any one series..... for a guy that gives us a better chance to win four series

its literally that simple.

keeping middleton around..... this team was never going to figure themselves out because night to night they had no idea who they were. roles constantly shifting. there was a domino effect here that literally was toxic to chemistry not the other way around. weve seen it both seasons in the dame era. we needed consistentcy even if the ceiling dropped marginally in any given game we can make up for that drop with consistentcy of just guys knowing their job and doing their job and looking around and seeing the same faces

If Kuzma was even close to the player, Middleton is, I'd agree with you. He's never been that player and this year he's about as far apart from Middleton as can be.

Way too early to give up on Livingston. He has the potential to be a complete player. He's already made some strides. I'd play him some minutes in the regular season, but apparently that isn't going to happen.

Also the advance stats are insane. Every year PJ has been on the roster we have been NBA champions. How can analytics person argue that?

I don't see any potential. He has bad feet and no lateral quickness. His skill level is so poor they use him as a roll man only on offense. Poor shooter with super slow release. Quick leaper, but that's it.

This is where things just get jumbled in your analysis. You view Livingston as too valuable to cut and disregard Kuz as garbage basically... but Kuz already is better now than Livingston's whole ceiling will ever likely be. If in 2 years Livingston is as good as Kuz is now (he has a ring as a main rotation player and was a 1st or 2nd best player on his last team) the whole NBA will sh*t their pants. Imagine Livingston becoming a 1st or 2nd best player on any NBA team.. it's highly unlikely and Kuzma already did that.

In that same light... we lost AJJ - promising young PG - while gaining KPJ who also is very likely better now than AJJs ceiling will end up.. if AJJ ever scores 50 in a game, the whole NBA will sh*t their pants... we have to start being even when evaluating talent of our own players compared to players we obtain.

This ownership knowingly structured a deal for a quarterback in Cleveland knowing the QB would be suspended for sexual assault charges so that the QB wouldn't lose any money in the deal.

How does this work? Do we actually have to cut someone to add a buyout because Rollins is taking our open roster spot? Or are you hoping we can nab 2 buyouts?

I'm hoping for no buyout players. If we want to add a young prospect, say a G League guy or an overseas player, we'd need to cut someone to open a roster spot. We have enough wiggle room under the 2nd apron to do this, because we were able to dump Baldwin.

Yeah, I wish I could see something with Livingston, but outside of putting up some box numbers in the G-league, dude has shown nothing to make me believe the potential is there. Can't shoot, can't dribble, isn't quick or athletic enough to switch onto quick wings/guards. I'm sticking with my Solomon Hill comp as his ceiling, and that's just not a guy that you spend resources keeping on the roster in the hope that he someday "gets it". I do think he's solid on the offensive boards, I guess.

I said it before, but Cam Reddish can slide in as our big defensive wing if/when he is waived. Played for Ham last year and Bucks have shown prior interest in him.

he actually plays tho. thats the whole point of my post

besides that we dont know what kind of player hes going to be. id say the feeling should be close to the way we felt when we picked portis off the scrapheap. both are similar players who spent far too long on teams prioritizing tanking for draft picks instead of winning. as opposed to running around with jordon poole goofing off.....now being on a winning team he can realize being a contributor for a championship again.....just like the last time he was in a situation like this with the lakers.

the year they won he had a -0.2 net rating. not bad considering he got 25 minutes a game off the bench that year often when lebron sat. anthony davis that year was -3.0 net rating ...lebron +9.9.....for comparison. obviously when they were with lebron their numbers were pulled up.

so stay optimistic. well find out soon enough simply because hes going to....consistently play basketball games for us!

finally.....
khris any given game today > kuzma any given game today

but......
kuzma >>>>> khris sitting out
consistent lineup >>>>> inconsistent lineup
sims/kpj >>>>> nothing
tons of financial flexibility with our pick still in hand >>>>>>>>> no flexibility

next year kuzma could rehab bigtime and be worth something. khris never would have been worth anything again

theres just alot of upside here. you cant focus on what we gave up which are those ever increasingly rare heaters when khris felt good on the right night with the right matchup. those were fun but theyre gone know. this return is worth it

Agreed. Our schedule, over the next 32 games looks pretty difficult. I don't think we go .500

Add Armel Traore to the list of guys I'd like to give a 2 way contract to. Athletic combo forward.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
