That event was completely fan driven and out of the control of Dallas front office.
You think if McLaurin's mom made a comment about Daniels that anyone would care? It "might" be brief local news in Washington and that is it.
The Cowboys are an easy target. Jerry openingly talking to the media as much as he does only puts flame to the fire. He provides great soundbites. So, the media eats it up.
The Hawks where often a huge magnet for the national media during the years they had guys like Sherman, Marshawn & Michael Bennett. Guys who were big personalities who were great at stirring up ****.
Then there was that whole narrative of they didn't give Marshawn the ball at the goal line in the Super Bowl because they wanted Russ to get all the glory. Which is total nonsense & ridiculous. But some people actually bought into it lol. That's what the media does.
For Dallas the target is on them at all times no matter what. Win or lose, no matter who is coaching or in charge. In fact the arguably the most "circus" stuff happened when they were winning rings in the 90s.
That is the reality.
Jerry takes the fall because he is owner and GM, so naturally he would be the one to point at. But I don't think he is the root cause at all. Reporters throw mics in his face and get sound bites, they run with it, dissect it all for public consumption. It gets labeled a "distraction". Can Jerry can say the wrong thing at times? YES absolutely. Sometimes he would be better off just shutting up. Maybe most of the time even. But even if Jerry were a mute, the circus would still be here.
