Quickly rant

Post#1 » by KingSebastian » Sat Feb 8, 2025 3:22 am

I think it's time to start the conversation...

Quickly gotta go.

I don't care about his numbers today. He is not a winning player. Constantly takes bad shots, can't play a lick of defense, careless with the basketball, bad energy when he's not playing well.
I don't care if he just got back from injury. He's always been this player and we're fooling ourselves if we think we can turn him into a starting point guard.
He is and will always be a combo guard. Better suited to be a bench sparkplug because of his scoring ability.

I don't mind trading Mitchell but we need to find a point guard who played defense. We don't need a 4th players on the team trying to score 20.
Scottie, Ingram, RJ...that is where our offense will come from. IQ needs to be moved.

it's kinda interesting, but i did notice RJ seem to play better with Barnes funny enough,

that's why i was a bit puzzled with the RJ has to go thing...

i mean Quickly is a good 3 pt shooter , he had 10 assist tonight which wasn't bad

I think IQ is best suited as a bench player

Against one of the best teams in the league, I might give another few games before concluding him worth his contract.
However, definitely see some disparity between what the team needs at PG (eg. Mitchell / Shead).

I was actually going looking for the PG thread to say the same thing.

I had high hopes for Quickley and a part of me still does but he can't blow by his defender to get to the rim, doesn't defend and is owed a lot of money. And before someone comes in here and says " oh he's fresh of an injury" - this has been the case even before the injury.

We have the rest of the season to see what we have in him but given that we just traded for ingram and are going to have to pay him in the offseason, Quickley is currently my Number 1 trade candidate. Especially if we're able to snag Dylan Harper in the draft.

I have to imagine Orlando is still looking for a proper starting PG.

I always viewed him as a 6th man kinda player. Was overpaid obviously, but it is what it is. Unless we draft a PG in the lottery they are kind of stuck with him for the long haul.

Looks like you haven’t even watched IQ play.

I remember someone comparing him to Lou Will and that stuck with me.....I still think IQ deserves some time to get back into the flow, around 10-15 consecutive games before you can really judge.

I think you need to exercise more patience... The guy's played in like 12 games this season with large gaps in between those games because of injuries... Hard to get into game shape let alone a rhythm.

Yeah. I have been thinking for a long time that IQ will be the guy that needs to be replaced down the road. Even if we get better talent, he just isn't a good enough PG. He seems most suited as a Lou Will type player & NY knew it.

He's barely played this year and hasn't found a rhythm. Let's see how he next year.

If we draft Harper, then yeah...ship him out.

yeah, he's shown some flashes but otherwise he may ultimately be what he was in NY, a combo third guard. maybe that's not so bad if we end up drafting a dylan harper. but that's still gonna be an overpay on that contract, unfortunately.

His contract is really starting to scare the crap out of me.

Hopefully he comes back next season 100 because right now he looks so slow.
