Hall of Fame selections announced: Antonio Gates, cornerback Eric Allen, defensive end Jared Allen, and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe.

Biggest shocker for me was Luke Kuechly not making it on first ballot, he was easily the best LB of his generation and dominated in the 7 seasons that he played. He deserved that honor.

Eli not making it was not a shocker.

We play better when we are under the weather. Remember the flu game?

This is our only chance to beat the Chiefs when we are feeling ill and the need to find their inner strength to win when we are physically weak. Now I like our chances...

That shows that showing up im wildcards to winning championships are not the only requirements. Eli needed to play well during his entire career which definitely hasn't unlike his brother. He will get in eventually due to that.

Stats are also not the only requirement either. If they were Vinny Testaverde and Carson Palmer would be eligible for the HOF.

Eli manning and luke kuechly are like opposites in that kuechly absolutely dominated when he played, but didn’t have longevity. Eli was only above average most of his career but because of his longevity he retired top 10 all time in passing yards and TDs. Stafford and Rodgers have bumped him out of the top 10 since Eli retired.

Longevity clearly plays a big role; otherwise, Kuechly would've gotten in just from the impact, stats, and accolades.

But, also, stats and accolades matter too, which is why Eli didn't make the cut.

Both will eventually get in, but Kuechly deserved the Calvin Johnson treatment of getting in on first ballot despite playing for only 8 years. He was that good.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced this is the biggest robbery since TO.

Playing in a small market like North Carolina probably hurt him.

He would have deserved it, but I disagree that it is robbery.

It's not unusual that dominant players whose career got short by injury don't make it first ballot.

Just look at Sterling Sharpe and how long he had to wait.

Darren Woodson has been getting robbed for years. He has the stats, the longevity, and the rings. No reason he shouldn’t be in the HOF.

I agree as he played a big part defensively with them winning 3 Superbowls. This man has earned his gold jacket imo.

Lol if it goes into overtime, there is even less of a chance Philly can win cause the refs love close games to make sure the 3 peat is a foregone conclusion for the league. ONLY way Philly can win is to have a big early like by 3 scores that even the refs can't do anything about it no how many blatant calls is done.

If it's a close game, Chiefs wins!

The last super bowl between these 2 teams, they played a very good clean game. But that mistake here or there by Philly was the difference. I'm looking for the similar type game. The difference? KC had received tons of criticism for winning all those close games throughout the year. Philly has been blowing teams out. I gotta believe the team that is used to the close fit, tight knit games has an advantage

It's strange, a lot of Superbowls in the last 10-15 years have been one-score games, as if the end result is scripted.

I know it's the age of parity but it's so different from Superbowl games in the 20th century, or maybe even through the first half of the 2000s.

3 plus score leads are generally boring unless the other team is able to comeback and win it. If the Eagles is up 28-3 by halftime, there is NOTHING the refs can do towards us to lose the game cause as would constantly run the ball to own the time of possession until the Chiefs will be forced to commit fouls out of frustration that are uncalled until the time runs out as the Eagles fly to victory!

It's about accepting reality.

I'm happy about the Eagles winning the NFC championship trophy because I know they can't beat the Chiefs and the refs.

I was happy about the Orioles reaching the postseason because I knew they can't compete against the payrolls of the other postseason teams.

It's you Cowboys fans who can't face reality. You think your team is a winner because you won a Super Bowl 30 years ago and those 3 decades of not even reaching the NFC championship game don't count.
