Id be looking to move Mitchell/Boucher for a young C with low cap hit next year. I looked at a guy like Robert Williams but the 12 million next year with Ingram likely puts us over the tax. Someone with a little upside that can backup Poeltl
IQ/Shead
Barrett/Walter
Ingram/Dick
Barnes/Ogbaji
Poeltl/C (Boucher/Mitchell trade)
And then see what happens with the draft and look to compete next year

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

If an expiring contract salary dunk of $3 million is worth one 2nd pick then Zeller would be worth three 2nd's.
Phoenix gets: Chris Boucher and Davion Mitchell
Toronto gets: Clint Capela and 2025 1st pick (LAL via Atl)

Why for Atl? They give up an expiring Capela to take on an extra year of Nurkic and move down in the 2025 draft. I see Nurkic as a bad fit with Trae too. Poor defender and not an athletic big.
Okongwu is starting but maybe Capela leaves for nothing?

knicks trade is not cap compliant
and the 2nd trade not after the ingram trade for tax/cap reasons.

I would love to get more 2025 picks.
The draft reminds me of 2021 where there were so many exciting prospects... We really wanted Mobley or Cade but also really liked Suggs and Barnes and Sengun
They all ended up being really **** good

Ah, Charlotte got Nurkic and 1st pick.
I like someone posting Boucher for Holmes, Saric and Cancar (Waive).
Holmes out for year, helps tank. Saric can play backup C.

I hope he plays atleast 1 game. It'd be his 42nd game between 2006-2025.
We play in Houston on Sunday, make it free trip for him.

Now that we have Ingram we don't have many tradable contracts, everyone in our starting line up is making 20+ million a year and the bench is full of rookie and minimum contracts. We will likely wait for one of Dick, Agbaji, or Walter to emerge before breaking Barrett's contract into a few role player pieces.
We are probably going to keep Tucker in a role similar to Temple's until the end of the season. We have open roster spots, there doesn't seem to be a need to waive him at this time.
We will draft the BPA regardless of our logjam and needs and probably trade Agbaji for a player with more term left on a rookie deal. If we get Flagg we're going to have the 6'9 vision completed.
Poeltl
Barnes / Mogbo
Flagg / Agbaji
Ingram / Dick / Walter
IQ / Shead

RJ on an expiring contract isn't likely to garner much, which is why he should have been on the block this year, especially if you were targeting Ingram. We can definitely take on some contract term for 2027 as cap space is def gone and we can squeeze a smaller than RJ salary potentially, unless Ochai's deal ends up being a problem.
The Nadji/bad contract deals for picks become more palatable with that situation. Only way to recoup lost asset value now.

Point is he isn't going to be a backup here to do what? He's asking time he bought out to sign with either OKC, Boston, Denver or New YorkMr Fitzhume wrote:Mr Swagtastic wrote:Tuckers getting waived he's going to chase a ringbartron_44 wrote:I wonder if they waive Tucker….

Armel Traore just recently got released by the Lakers. I am a huge fan of his from last year's draft. Also, he is related to Noel Traore who I think is someone we should look at in this year's draft.

Not sure what to do about Agbaji. He's a solid wing defender and I see a poor man's Norman Powell possible but he's already in year 5 and by the time Powell was this age, he was a lot better. Add to the fact that we have Walter on an expiring contract and Dick who has already proven he's an NBA player and I see no point in wasting much needed future capspace on an Agbaji extension.
Depending on how the rest of the season goes and the draft, I'd probaly attach him to a Quickley package and see what that gets us.

Amazing how people make up facts to further own points.
Ochai is season 3 not 5.
And rj has 2 years left after this.

Hypothetical:
Trae asks out after Hawks decide to pivot to Dyson/Johnson/Zach this offseason
Do you trade IQ/Dick + future picks and/or swaps to get him?
Trae/Shead
RJ/Walter
BI/Ochai
SB/Mogbo
JP/Robinson
+ 2025 FRP and SRP
Assuming we go for Malauch we get another big that can possibly anchor the defense behind Trae. We'd also have 2 all stars that are younger than 30 to pair with Scottie. Both also top 5 picks from their respective drafts

Re: 2024-25 Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread V1.0
Other than Trae, I'm not sure what guys might be available come this offseason. Aren't many teams that aren't in their rebuilding phase that are on the brink of blowing it up. Zach and Fox already moved.
Outside of that, its pretty much Indiana, Clippers, Suns, Sixers that may punt on their superstars and blow it up.
For Indiana I doubt they move Hali or Siakam but I think Turner might be gone and Mathurin might want to get paid more than his role dictates. Perfect opportunity to grab him. Maybe a Poeltl and Dick for Mathurin and expiring salary swap. Helps lower our payroll and take a swing at Mathurin
For the Clippers they don't have anyone we'd want. Maybe Norm bc he's better than RJ but not good enough to trade him for that small upgrade. Kawhi is off the table. Harden wouldn't want to be here
For the Suns I'd def be all in on getting Book but I think KD is gone before they listen to anything about Book. Unless he asks out but I doubt that
Sixers may trade Embiid/PG and blow it up but idk who is taking that risk. Embiid isn't gonna get more healthy from here. Maybe if they were willing to do RJ/Jak + protected picks? Super lowball for a recent MVP but I'm not trading the farm for him either
Other than that, it looks like us banking on BI being added full time next year, the new lottery pick, and everyone getting healthy for next year

Depending on the picks, sure. Then trade him for more.
