Buy-out candidates?

Post#1 » by DanishLakerFan » Sat Feb 8, 2025 9:06 am

Any thoughts on the buy out market?
Brogdon, CP3, Nance, Tre Jones etc.

Maybe Spurs agree to buy out with Fox in there and playoff chances getting thinner.

Nance would be ideal as well.

Brogdon makes too much.

We can't sign guys making over 12.9 mil, apron team penalty.

Chris Paul not getting bought out.

Nance would be stellar, he developed a 3 and he's a legit stretch 5 now.

No buy-out candidates are gonna move the needle, I'm cool bringing Nance Jr back if the Hawks release him...

Bamba seems to be better right now. Theis has a really bad OEPM and what's worse: DEPM also. Not Mark Williams level bad, but close. Bamba is at least neutral on that end and also offers some range. Though I'd target Biyombo first. He can still be a defensive presence for his 20 minutes and if both Luka and Lebron is on the floor, we don't need anything from him on offense.

Nance
Olynyk
Bamba

Dump Klieber or Morris or Wood.

It’ll be a bit of a climb for Dalton to grow up and be a professional about it, will affect his output. Poor dude just working his way through the rookie wall, now this. I hope he sees this as motivation.

Dalton is a dawg. Happy to have him back. JJ will have to navigate this well.

I don't know, but at this point I'm guessing it's either Dwight Howard or small ball.

His not a starter, his coming off major Injury etc. He would be good as a 3rd string center, If you can get a legit starting C, you can keep Hayes and Koloko as your back ups, but you need a legit starting C for that to happen. I think Koloko Is In the G-league now If I'm not mistaken.

I'm starting to warm up to the Idea of having Bron as Center, but only on certain match ups not all match ups.

I wouldn't rule out the chance of CP3 getting bought out if the Spurs stay at their current position.

Nance would be ideal, but Daniel Their would be ok as well.

What does theis bring? Isnt he more of a bad defender and stretch? Why not use the knowledge that it took mavs 6 seasons to figure out?

I’m up about his potential, but he’s not yet reached it, imho. He’s going to get minutes now, so we’ll soon see what he’s got.

Ideal option would be Nance, but not sure if that's realistic.

Mo would be an okay option because he can spread the floor and block some shots.

A sleeper would be Bismack Biyombo. He is undersized center, but no one works harder or has a bigger heart. I can see him being a solid defender against some of the Western Conf centers. He's on a 10 day contract with SA, so hopefully he will be available after that.

As crazy as this sounds, I feel like the Lakers need to make this move now. Even with it only being mediocre bigs available

Koloko is listed at 230 lbs, Hayes at 220 lbs, I can imagine refs would allow a Superstar like Jokic to lean his 285 lb body and get a TON of easy 5 foot hook shots against these 2 lean guys. Lebron might have a better chance of holding his ground but that would be asking a lot from the 40 year old.
Theis at 245 lbs also has a better chance but is only listed at 6-8, so Jokic can take his time and be confident that his 6-8 foot hooks would not be blocked by a shorter defender.
Lakers can try to swarm him with double teams but Nikola has just been a master of setting up his shooters so JJ should be down on his knees praying that Murray and MPJ would have bad shooting nights if he try this strategy.
