2 Names pop out to me that id possible like to get for the right price.

Mark Prior [sp/rp help]
Kiko Calero [a pretty good arm out hte pen]
Dallas McPherson [if hed take a minor league contract. hed almost instantly would be are best infield prospect]

Prior is a name and talented but I mean the guy just can't stay healthy.

I don't really know what happened to Calero last year but his track record is worth a shot.

One guy I noticed was John Parrish, lefty that surfaced in SEA last year. He must have had some arm surgery and last year was his first year back but he was a heck of pitcher before he disappeared.

Akinori Otsuka is another one id watch. the yankees have tried to trade for him as recently as of last years trade deadline

Morgan Ensburg- For power off the bench in case we decide to deal Betemit for some reason.

Nook Logan-Because his name is funny and he's with 23 stolen bases last year he's a threat on the basepaths.

Mark Pryor-Small risk with potential big reward.

Dallas McPherson- Name sounds like it was lifted right out of an adventure novel and seems to have some potential if healthy.

Akinori Otsuka-Any potential bullpen help is good.

I like Otsuka, maybe give him a two year deal like we should've done with Dotel (assuming he has to recover from some elbow surgery).

Otsuka is 36 and might need TJS. He is not an option. There are no reliable setup men out there. If there were, they'd be getting contracts worth far more than what Linebrink signed for. We are going to have to create our own I'm afraid.

Maybe if he can be a setup guy? Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense.

from all indications Joba and Hughes will have an max. number of innings they can pitch this year during the reg season. so prior could work outta the pen and spot start to give one of those two a day off... sort of how the yankees envision using Mussina this year

Why would we set up a rotation where we would skip a guy? It just doesn't make sense....either send these guys back to AAA if they aren't ready for a whole season or let them loose with pitch counts on individual games...we can't plan our rotation and then have to look ahead to make sure these guys don't fatigue later on.

uhh like all major league teams do with there rookie pitchers they put a cap on how many innings thru the regular season tehy can pitch. ur talkin about some guys who havent pitched more then 100 innings in their career. u wanna throw them into 200inning work loads? hta majority of the time thell pitch. but u will see them take a day off every now and then... u cant take a prospect like hughes and joba and expect them to sling that many innings. at the most this year during the regular season id expect them to pitch 140-150 innings. so id expect to see moose or someone else come up and maybe start one game a month for one of them. thatll keep there innings down.

u gotta remember in the minors these guys all had pitch counts around 75-80 or 6 innings of work and thats it. bringing them up and making that double will 1/ fatigue them extremely fast = poor pitching 2/ possible allow injury to occur. best exp. of this in recent years............................... Kerry Wood and Mark Prior.

other teams baby there stud pitching prospects. see how many innings cole hamels, jered weaver, Fransico Liriano, Jake Peavy, all thru in there first full season. hell we watched wang's innings and pitch counts the first time he came up and he was use to logging that may innings over in Taiwan

Well I wouldn't worry about how he would fit in with that rotation. From what I hear he won't be able to return to the majors until May at the earliest and with his injury tendancy any team that signs him will take baby steps with his usage. By the time he's healthy and capable of big innings we'll more or less will now how he can best help us.

Lconte I agree but you can't get to August and September and skip these guys or limit them to 5 innings in a pennant race...In April or May you can, June and July you have to manage them like anyone else and come August and September you really have to let them loose.

i agree with you but i just think youll see moose or igawa or someone else pitch a game every now nad then to allow the rooks to skip a start and get 11 days rest instead of 5.... i just that playing out that way. look how they played JOBA RULES last year... itll be similar for the starts watch
