Agbaji Extension?

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Sat Feb 8, 2025 8:09 pm

Besides the Ingram negotiation the one other big decision we have to make this offseason is Agbaji's potential extension. Has he won you over enough to give him an extension? if so what's he worth? Do you want to see another lower AAV contract but with a PO at the end again?

Definitely need to extend him.

My guess is that it'll be 3yr/30mil (3yr being a player option).

I think he's worth keeping and that Okoro is a good benchmark. 3 years at 10-12 million.

Masai and Bobby will be forced to make some decisions on him, Gradey, Ja'Kobe, and RJ next year. It'll be interesting, but nice having youthful options on movable salaries.

3 years plus 1 year team option at 45 mil total in that 11-11.5 mill range seems fair for a 3 and D guy like Ochai.

Isn't the MLE around 12M? If we don't sign him for at least that much, another team will.

14 mil next season.

3 year 40-45 mil is what I would offer.

The year his extension kicks in it is 14.8. I’d offer 4/60, flat no options.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

he's an asset to the team either as a trade bait or backup if rj gets traded

He's better than RJ, I could see him being similar level if he was as offensively aggressive and given the opportunity. We should be looking to sell RJ for expirings and picks this summer. If we can pull a cheap C like Jalen Smith I would be happy.

Poeltl / Smith
Barnes / Mogbo / Top 5 pick
Ingram / Walter
Agbaji / Dick
IQ / Shead

That's probably our best case scenario moving forward considering the situation we're stuck in with IQ and BI's future contract.

I like having players like him that play the right way and unselfishly almost to a fault. But it’s tough having them during rebuilding when you are looking for something more. It does seem like the rebuild is being forced to end soon so it’s be great to keep him. RJ or Quick will probably be moved but there’s so many factors that will need to play out to determine which. Interesting to note, it does seem like RJ was already offered to the Pelicans and they wanted the picks/expiring instead.

Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

At helping a team win basketball games. He's a better defender and 3pt shooter. Do you disagree with him being worse at those core skills?

Herb Jones is bigger and better and his avg is approx 13.5.

So maybe in that 12 range seems fair

There’s no reason to. He’ll be a restricted free agent.

The Raptors overpay everybody, so let that be your guide. The entire NBA were astonished that Quickley got 32M.

He's going to be the worst contract in the league next year. 4 more years bro buckle up!
