What should be Average Annual Value (AAV) of Ingram's new contract?

Post#1 » by srhcan » Sun Feb 9, 2025 12:10 am

Currently there are 42 NBA players whose AAV is at least $40M. So I believe Ingram will never sign below it.

Barnes AAV for new contract is almost $45M. So I am hoping Raptors will not pay more than that for Ingram. But its possible Raptors have to pay more than that to keep Ingram.

Ideally, but hard to see Ingram accepting anything south of 40 M. Also, Masai is usually pretty generous handing out contracts.

35M would be wishful thinking but possible if he hurts himself again before the season ends.
40M seems like the minimum if he's healthy and plays normal.
45M seems like what he could get if he comes back and plays great.

My guess is that he'll get 42.5M over 4 years and this board will lose its mind when the difference in value is just a minimum contract lol.

Anything under 40mil AAV is a huge steal but it'll likely be in the 40-45 range which is fair.

My prediction: 3yr/120mil (w/ the 3rd year being a player option).

He might get $48M.

I voted 40 as that is the lowest I could vote.

Hard to see him sign below 42m (OG). 43m are the old max contract, and those players are going to ask more than that.
Minimum seems to be 44m, and taking less than Siakam (due to health), I would assume it would be 45m.

$40M for 2+1 PO is a good deal. I doubt BI accepts that low AAV

Can you imagine a scenario where BI plays great and we win 10 games in March to drop to 9th in the draft and then pay $45M to BI?

This board will explode

That means we will stay irrelevant for Barnes prime.

When he plays great, let's hope others are "injured" or it's at full strength against the better teams in the NBA. Bobby pretty much said to pray for the ping pong balls so they'll do as much as possible to get the best odds.

We’re probably overpaying because he agreed to live in Canada instead of America. That’s the truth of the matter. If it’s a fair value contract then that’s huge for us because he’s a UFA and if he agreed to those terms then finally we got an American guy to come and stay without overpaying.

As long as there is one team with cap space he will have some leverage. We are also a middling team, and he shouldn't be expected to have any inherent loyalty to the team yet, so he will use leverage in negotiation.

I would be extremely stunned if its below 40M. If the max is $48M, I would expect it to come around between 43-46

I would be surprised if its below 40M. If the max is $48M (If I am reading OP correctly), I would expect it to come around between 43-45

Let's go and have contracts to swing around the league based on potential labels in middle of their deals to "shuffle the deck"
