Oh my. Our salary cap is going to be weird due to Nurkic next year. Glad we got the pick though. I guess we realized it was time to cut bait on Mark though. That's shrewd gm ing if it works. If it doesn't work, well, this is going to be interesting.
Would have like Knecht.

Now can they rescind the Nurkic trade?

I love that the gen board thread is full of woe is me Lakers fans pretending like the evil Hornets tried to defraud them

So umm, how do we feel about the trade deadline now?

Pretty much everyone liked the Martin trade and most people disliked the Williams trade, so the trade being rescinded is positive in a sense, but now we know beyond any reasonable doubt we should be worried about Marks health, which feels pretty awful.

At the end of the day I think their ceiling is higher with Williams on the team if he can stay healthy enough than with Dalton and the extra Lakers pick. If his health ultimately fails him I don't think missing out on Knecht and a likely late 1st six years from now is that big of a deal. They still got an extra 1st from Martin and have plenty of assets to play with. Do whatever you gotta do to get Mark healthy for when the games matter again.

So did he tear something else while running to make the jet to LA? How the hell could our superstar medical staff not know about these multiple issues?

If he can heal, time to put him on the shelf and rehab everything for next season. If it’s BS because they got cold feet, let him play some before he sits to call them out on it.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Knecht has an easy skill set to find in today's game. Also the way superstars fall into the Lakers lap, that pick would likely be useless 6 years from now.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Should we be suspicious of the new medical staff already? Didn't the top guy leave the team recently.

Trent Salo probably bailed when he caught wind of this schemeing BS. He probably knows Mark has no business on a basketball court

I mean, hes been playing games recently and has had multiple 30 point games in the last few weeks. I have to think this is more about long term risk than them thinking he is completely cooked and shouldn't be playing right now. They literally gave up an unprotected 2031 pick for him, so they need to consider whether he was going to be able to play at a productive level six years from now or it could have massive ramifications. It also probably wouldn't have taken them so long to make the decision if his medicals were just completely ****.

I think the Lakers got cold feet, they had to know his injury history was a concern but now realize that it’s a time bomb. Then got to media to blame us, media falls in line because they love the Lakers and could give a **** about the Hornets.

The terms of the trade on the Lakers end were an explicit bet that Mark would be still be a franchise center six years from now. I'm not saying it isn't bad that the Lakers weren't willing to make that bet, because obviously Hornets fans were hoping he would be their franchise center for the next decade before the trade. Its a serious deal, but at the same time if they can still get five years of a franchise center out of Mark that isn't the end of the world. The front office better start making some moves to speed the timeline up.

Or the Lakers screwed us? That is an option. I mean if the issue isn’t his back then it must be his foot or it shouldn’t be a huge deal. Reports I saw was he couldn’t lift weights? And that means back which means the Lakers are playing dirty. Anyways, regardless I’m actually kind of happy by this news. We don’t have an issue at center anymore, 5 years of Mark probably beats those draft pick(s) and we still have draft capital.

5 years of mark? what?
we aren't resigning him. no way. he's done.
mark wont want to resign either
he wont play again for us this year
there's no world where mark is on a 2nd contract with us now
