I'm curious to see if he's a dumb defender or just a bad defender due to athleticism. There's a difference. God help us if he's both.

I would agree. Our bench struggles to score points. But if Knecht can contribute there, and with Nick Smith Jr. getting invaluable experience throughout this tank alongside him, and with Tre Mann looking like a keeper, the bench should be able to generate sufficient scoring to keep us in games when two of LaMelo, Miller and Miles are off the floor. I'm hoping our lottery prospect can contribute to bench scoring from day one, and even pushes for a starter role early like our guy Stephon Castle.

How is Knecht as a player/prospect different from someone like Adam Morrison?

Klay is a good comp but more athletic.

3 level scorer and can attack the rim.

Defense and focus on defense is the big question.

Klay Thompson but more athletic or Knecht is comparable to a more athletic Klay Thompson? Either way, that feels quite generous.

I didn't mean the Ammo comparison as a knock, just two guys that put up big college numbers with big questions about how well it would translate, especially with their defensive limitations. Mostly, I know there are boarders here that were ecstatic to draft Morrison, so seems like there should be a bit more excitement and I'm wondering why that isn't the case (it must also be acknowledged that fan morale seems at an all-time low). To my knowledge, I've seen exactly one game of Dalton Knecht's entire basketball career, so I'm just attempting to get a preview and set some personal expectations. So more athletic than Ammo, but still awful defensively with questions about if it's physical or mental and can score from multiple levels as a rookie better than a rookie Ammo, but worse than a rookie Klay (and now he's on the Hornets where he will get way more attention than when in the Lakers).

Ready to become a believer. I like what the FO has done generally, so if they were high on him, that is a plus.

honestly kinda feel bad for him. imagine this roller coaster a couple months into your NBA career
