of course they are. Towns was injured, even Josh Hart had 3 turnovers at half time.
They are definitely legit contenders.
Any team with Towns+Brunson is a contender when they're both playing this well. And Towns has been BALLING with a broken thumb which really messes up a shooters stroke on a shooting hand like he has.

Do not underestimate them in a 7 game series. I just hope we keep HCA if we have to play them in the playoffs.

I think the real contenders in the East are the Cavs and Celtics. The Knicks have a losing record vs teams over .500. That's not a one-game reaction. That's from the whole season to date.

I don't trust KAT to not disappear in big moments in the playoffs, or to protect the middle on defense in any significant way. Teams will target him and Brunson in the PNR all playoffs and will get a lot of easy buckets from it. That leaves Brunson to carry on offense, and his egregious foul baiting doesnt work quite as well in the postseason.

I like the Knicks this season. Aside from Brunson flailing around and getting calls, they're a fun bunch to watch. They could definitely prove me wrong on the contender status if they get healthy. That's just a big if considering the heavy minutes that Thibs plays the starters during the regular season.
