yes the song is timeless but it's been used, the HEAT marketing team smells of nepo hires and corny people.

Pretty sure that was the Miami Vice song.....

Here’s the link that they expressed interest and tried to get Jimmy before ultimately settling for a much lesser player in Mikal Bridges because we weren’t willing to negotiate.

Your response will likely be “well I don’t see where they offered 5 1st for Jimmy in there” but let’s not grasp for straws. If they gave it up for bridges they would’ve gave it up for Jimmy who is one of Thibs favorite players. I mean even if they only gave us 3 it’s a far better package than what we got and opens several avenues.

They didn’t play this out right considering Jimmy said he wasn’t extending in June and they had no intentions of extending him anyways. Is what it is.

Exactly. Jimmy wouldn't have gotten us FIVE first rd picks as a 35 yr old w an extension looming. Even Durant won't get the Suns 5 first rd picks at this stage.

Bridges may not be as good, but he's entering his prime years and viewed as a promising talent by many. Imo, that's way too much to pay for Bridges, but he's someone their franchise player, Brunson, likes and probably recruited.

"However, talks didn’t go far beyond exploratory interest..."

You think if they offered 5 picks, the talks wouldn't have gone a little far? At least some insiders would have reported the details?
So, it was not "reported" that they were willing to offer 5 first rd picks for Jimmy and you are just talking out of you know what. Just speculating in your brain.

Give me what you legitimately think the Knicks would’ve offered at most for Jimmy considering they gave 5 1sts for a lesser player.

Age is cool and all and does play a part but the Knicks are in win now mode and Jimmy is still a damn good player and near the top when it matters most

The reason the talks didn't advance is obviously Knicks were just checking to see if they can get Jimmy for cheap. Idk, maybe Julius Randle + fillers and a pick. But I don't care to speculative something that wasn't serious at all. I don't like Bridges much but many NBA players think he's all that for whatever reason. Thus many stars think about teaming up w him. But he's got the Villanova connection w the Knicks franchise star and probably overpaid to make Brunson happy and improve (in their mind) the roster. Knicks got lucked into Brunson and kudos for trying but idk if they got real shots at championships

They really brought out the phil collins song that lebron used to like?? this and that weird celebration with the big 3 in 2010, and other things, why are the HEAT marketing team so out of touch and weird man.

speaking of which, Eric Reid is a corny dinosaur that needs to go, he's been mucking up the announcing ever since the big 3 when LBJ came down here with bosh.

Can't lie, I am tired of Eric Reid. His commentating is just an endless litany of stats chained together into an excruciatingly long list he calls out.

"Here comes Tyler Herro the 6'5 guard out of Kentucky. He swings it to Bam who scores just his 3rd bucket of the night and his first from in the paint. He now has 6 points on 3-8 shooting. And that was Tyler Herro's 5th assist, which is his 7th game in a row with at least 5 assists -- the 3rd longest streak of this Miami Heat season..."

This is spectacular. We should take this on tour.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Grumpy I usually enjoy your takes but I'd minus 1 this post if I could.

Eric Reid is the Ned Flanders of NBA announcing. His announcing has always sucked, and even when he was younger 20-30 years ago, he STILL sounded like an 80 year old trying to fit in with the kids, saying the corniest crap.

Reid and Crotty both are a bit much with their constant company man shtick. I get it’s their job but its like watching a boxing or ufc event spinning these biased narratives that don’t always align with the live action

I disagree. In my opinion, they're actually some of the most unbiased home announcers in the NBA. Whenever I watch, they always give credit to the opposing teams, and Eric Reid gets just as excited when the other team makes a big play.

If you're looking for a truly homer broadcast, try listening to the Boston, Bulls, or Philly broadcasts.

Objectively, Miami has some of the least biased and most professionally capable announcers in the entire NBA. Any time a thread will pop up on reddit discussing other teams' announcers its basically universally agreed upon.

Some people just don't want to hear anything that isn't their mope tho

There are times I feel Reid/Crotty aren't homer enough  They can be hella charitable towards gawd awful officiating.

I have my bones about Reid n Crotty but at least we don’t have to endure Tony Fiorentino anymore.

Return to Miami Heat
