All the makings of a 2nd round exit because this is who the Knicks are playing. Concerning we can't even look competitive.

We should really consider this. Its all about match ups. Celtics are overrated but they are like the better version of us and have 3 people to throw at Jalen at any time and I dont even count JT and Brown. KAT is our only advantage and they have Porzingis which is a lesser version of him but still somewhat makes for him.
Also, we still need to see how the Celtics fare against: JB-Mika-Hart-OG-Mitch type of line-up....I think that line-up would give them much more trouble overall.
I think this is even worse considering their style and the amount of threes they are taking. What is Mitch going to change, pull away KAT from the paint, where he is respectable defender, to the perimeter where he is horrible defender. Mitch is also horrible but that doesn't matter because they are guarding Porzingis anyway and this is what he does.
No coach in the history is beating this Celtics team with this Knicks roster. We are just designed to get spanked by them.

I don't know the exact schedule of all-star players but playing 10-15 minutes in a very low intensity all-star game while having 95% of the time off is a solid amount of rest I would say. I do agree with the general sentiment though that going forward there should be regular load management games for KAT as well as a limitation of his minutes to around 30 minutes or so. Hopefully with Mitch back and Hukporti improving that will be possible.
With Thibs you obviously never know though....

Re: PG: why are you still watching the Celtics pound the Knicks at MSG?
I am not overreacting to this loss, but out of all good teams / contenders we have absolutely the least margin for error.
when 2 of our top 8 are out, we are cooked. maybe not in a normal game and maybe not even in the first round... but when it really counts.
Josh Hart is a fantastic 5th starter and do it all role player, but when he has to be a top 3 option in such a game... you are cooked.
Precious Achiuwa is a scrappy and feisty 8th-9th man, but when he is a starter in a high stakes game... you are cooked as well.
All of our role players look good when they are used properly, but not such much when you need them to fill a bigger role.

Expanding on this - Duce is a great 8th man but underwhelming 6th man. But you can get away with Duce/Precious as your 7th/8th men.
Hart would be a great 6th man, even if the starter was the 6th best player on the roster for balance. In this regard - Mitch coming back and starting puts the roster in much better shape.
But the flaw is the top talent on the roster is a step below championship level. And yes I’m referring to needing a top-5 guy to put this team into elite contender status.

He scored 50 points in the all star game last season. He’s one of the few all stars that tries in the game and he tries to impress the crowd with dunks so overall it’s not an ideal spot for the Knicks. Hopefully the new format helps.

Even if OG was healthy the Knicks probably still get blown out. It’s just far too easy to exploit Towns’ decision making on screen actions and once the team starts to over help it leads to open shots everywhere.

Deuce was so horrible on both ends last night. As a sixth man we needed him to step up and go head to head with Pritchard when Kat was obviously hurt and Mikal didn't have anything. Couldn't have gone more wrong tbh. And this sequence sealed the L:
5:50 Miles McBride shooting foul 72 67
5:50 Derrick White makes free throw 1 of 3 73 67
5:50 Derrick White makes free throw 2 of 3 74 67
5:50 Derrick White makes free throw 3 of 3 75 67
5:36 Miles McBride misses 22-foot three point jumper 75 67
5:34 Celtics defensive team rebound 75 67
5:34 Payton Pritchard enters the game for Jaylen Brown 75 67
5:19 Derrick White makes layup (Jayson Tatum assists) 77 67
We were dead after this.

Tatum shot 4-9 against Mikal according to nba.com. Mikal has been playing great defense over the past few months.
But yeah, in this one pretty much everybody played poorly except Brunson and Thibs was outcoached.

no need to let us know thibs was outcoached. if the knicks played a basketball game then that's just a given.
we ask our players to be better than the opposing team, while also getting crappy whistles, while also being outcoached. no other team has to do these 3 things on a nightly basis.

Agreed. The stink of defeat is on everyone except Brunson this game. Thibs included. Leon’s gonna have his work cut out for him this offseason.
