selling everything(Challenge)..Utah Jazz
The Jazz have barely advanced in their reconstruction, apart from Kessler (even him is debatable) none of their prospects feel like a piece to build on, so much so is it true that this year (in theory) will be their first choice at the top. This thread tries/proposes to sell everything, what is salable...
What would you do or what do you think Jazz will do this summer?

The value return likely won't appeal to the Jazz, but this is DOA because I don't see any way that Beal waives his NTC to end up in Utah.

Yes I suppose you are right...it was the concept of sending smaller contracts for a much larger one...they would have too many players

Yeah, the Suns are in a tight spot
I do like the fit of Lauri to DET, especially if we manage to get a taste of the playoffs. No idea what a fair valuation is these days though!

Klay and player drafted (assuming Dallas pick is in the teens) for Sexton and the two later 2nds?
Think the 2nds can be traded with no cap hold, so Dallas doesn’t trigger a first apron hard cap.. can always include Powell and no get a second back if that seems smarter.
No idea where you send Klay. But there’s time to figure that out..

Re: selling everything(Challenge)..Utah Jazz
Right, Utah is suddenly going to decide to extend their rebuild by years.
Not happening. They will strike gold in the lottery or try again next year. They might trade someone if the player demands a trade, but they are NOT going full teardown. They don't want a long term rebuild if there is anything they can do to avoid it.
They will try to hold onto Lauri and Kessler at a minimum. Other guys I am sure would be available at the right price, but I'm not sure anyone is willing to pay what Ainge is asking, otherwise those guys would have been moved at the deadline.

New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

On behalf of Danny Ainge, I accept. Sexton may be too redundant with Kyrie, though.

Bruh, there's four veterans left on the roster and three of them are about to be on expiring deals, with all three being such a terrible fit with the existing roster that there's no chance they're re-signed (Sexton, Clarkson, and Collins).
There's almost nothing left on the roster to even tear down because there's basically no foundation here. This, of course, means that any rebuild will be incredibly long regardless so Lauri will probably just age out of being a valuable player before the team is good enough to compete.
The team's current foundation is
Collier - Likely solid backup PG
Keyonte - Likely solid 6th man
Filipowski - Likely solid backup center
Walker Kessler - League average starting center
Lauri Markkanen - Was briefly a star but probably only has 1-2 star years left
And almost no draft capital to trade for a star as all of their picks before 2029 are bad outside of their own.

Maybe so, but they've never tried to trade him. He's a 7-ft, athletic, 50/40/88 guy when he's locked in. He also likes Utah and the Jazz organization. They want to keep him.
Jazz's current rebuilding plan is to draft high-caliber prospects in the '25 and '26 drafts, then pair those potential stars with Lauri and Walker.

This gives an absolute best case scenario of the Jazz being like five years away (as the team needs to both draft two stars which is extremely hard and then give them 3-5 years to develop) and Lauri is probably not going to be a star player after two years.
They should have traded him deadline 2024 and are now just kind of left with nothing unless he bounces back next year (and his value is likely still massively diminished and can probably only get back what the Raptors got for Siakam)

How will they utilize having Lauri to help them accomplish their long-term goals?

To a point, I think this is true. That said, Lauri seems to want to be in Utah and there aren't a lot of 7 ft. guys that can do what he does in a general sense. I'm good with not trading him. That said, the other vets are fair game.

Long-term goal of winning a chip? Pretty sure they are making the necessary steps now, like tanking for a generational talent.

Okay, but literally how is Lauri being part of the roster helpful to this long-term goal?
This team is not competing within the next four years.
