didn't see a gamethread but LaMelo is out today with ankle soreness. really discouraging how this team handles injuries, putting guys back on the floor for 36 minutes and then having them immediately back to missing non b2b games. their touted "RTP process" is completely bizarre

It’s their punishment for daring to win a game

lol, it's called tanking. They wanted to entertain the big crowd at home on a Friday vs Wemby. They wanted to and did lose at Detroit.

Probably more likely that the guy with chronic ankle issues is having a chronic ankle issue than worrying about entertaining San Antonio crowds

Sorry, San Antonio transplants. I couldn’t watch the game because of blackouts

First time all year they cared about people who bought tickets to a home game was indeed Friday.

Re: LaMelephant: The LaMelo Ball Thread (#2)
Even the commissioner who cares more than anyone else involved in the voting process about the bottom line of the attention and money that certain players can all start game will bring doesn't see the value in adding the leading vote getter.
Very clear message sent by the commissioner the coaches and the media that they are never going to reward a player on a team this bad. Stupid thought process for the All-Star game but that's what they're saying.
I hate it for lamelo but then again I do really don't want to hear all of the Talking Heads talk about undeserved all appearances for him. Plus this is just another opportunity for every player on the other teams to get in his head and try to convince them to leave charlotte. Hopefully he uses this as motivation to get himself as healthy as possible and destroy the league next year.

Saw this:
Not sure if he's saying that's just how he chooses to or if there is some rule that that's how he is supposed to.

hmmm yeah....then why call it commissioner "chooses". clearly, the coaches "choose" in this scenario.
im guessing silver can do whatever and just uses coaches votes as his criteria prob to avoid any claims of playing favorites etc.. by why not go with players or fans or media? or a mix of all?

Re: LaMelephant: The LaMelo Ball Thread (#2)
The NBA has made it clear they won't know parts of marketing LaMelo.
I thought Trae deserved to be on the all-star team. My issue is more with the process. At some point the fans vote have to matter. Even in the injury replacement they rewarded the guy who team was better. LaMelo literally lead all guards in the East in voting. The fans want to see him.
Reward the fans.

Fixed.
You participate, they get clicks, hits, and revenue
and then do what they want anyway despite your illusion of choice
it'll never go away

Yea, I mean, you can still have the vote, but don't pretend it impacts the selections.
